If we change that, we will never work this out. Surely there is some way you can break away for a few hours on a Saturday- a quick drink and a meal won't take long. Well, the board is free to vote on anything, but do we even have a place to go? Jeff was going to get back to us but hasn't yet. Maybe by tomorrow we'll consider going to plan B. If he does, we are just going to go with that date. If not, we'll put it back up for discussion. I know that will knock a few people out, and I apologize for that, but if we switch it to the 6th or 7th, that will knock a couple of different people out. It will be impossible to find a day that everyone can make. I don't know how else to do this. That said, everyone is still free to suggest something. I don't want this to be about my schedule, it's for the board. I just think at this point it's better to pick a date rather than to continue to change it each time a new poster comes on.

We think the Morton's scenario might be a little more than some folks want to spend on a dinner and drinks. Also, if only 12 show up then it would be about $145 ea....that's a little pricey. I think we should look at Michael's friends establishment to see if it can fit the bill. Assuming, and it's not official yet, that it's on the 9th then I will be attending. (Jim- I hope you can break away for a few hours to dine with us). There is no way I could take more than a day off of work...but if the majority want a weekday, as I said before, I will politely bow out...no big deal. Finding a venue where we can all talk and get to know one another is far more important than the meal itself. best regards

If we go to a place that is packed wall to wall with TVs blaring, etc., we might as well eat at home - we'll be able to communicate with each other as effectively. At this point, I don't have a problem with when or where as long as we can have a peaceful meal and actually be able to talk - isn't that the point of this anyway?

Doesn't that sound good?

Joann

There. That was as polite as I could possibly make it.

The proper thing to do, I think. Nothing to stop a second, weekday get together at another time. Barry, Jeff, Mike, thanks for your efforts.

Posted By: Bob C
Wow,
Does anyone else agree this is a microcosm of what happens far too often here? What starts out as a well intentioned fun thing turns into a downward spiral of squabbles, accusations and contentiousness. Guys and gals, set a date time and place, and go have fun! Whoever shows up shows up! Although my wife is a New Yorker and has lots of family there, I tend to avoid the City as we Californians know all New Yorker’s are rude and impolite, have tunnel and bridge trolls and generally eat their young. <-insert smiley face here.
Posted By: Judson Hamlin
Okay, I talk to Barry at lunchtime and he tells me that there will be a post at 600 or so confirming the dinner. At 6-whatever the post shows up. Before committing to a dinner in December, I decide to eat dinner tonight, and now I come back and Barry's out, the date may or may not be moved, the place may or may not be moved. Can someone summarize wtf just happened here? And where's Julie McCoy when you need her?

Posted By: MVSNYC
i really hope this is a joke...i can't believe how ridiculous this has become...as of now i will still hold the table. it does not get that crazy loud in there, but it is a fun atmosphere, as i mentioned before one of my BEST friends is the MANAGER, so we WILL get taken cared of...i can't make it clearer than that...(i.e. big table for however many we need, nice discount, etc...). from the beginning, i didn't care we went, or what day it was, but it seemed that the general vote was sat the 9th, and because morton's didn't work, Duke's become the back-up plan...i don't care if someone suggests another idea, i just want to get together with card-flipping people for dinner & drinks...so are we doing this or not?
