Thanks, Eric.

Gary, I think I am seeing double after looking at those Ruths!
In a word, awesome.

This is very impressive. I also find it extraordinary that Ruth was able maintain his expression and pose for so many different background tints.

Those are amazing, best of luck finding and buying the other two you need.

I wonder if there are other collectors also going for this color run. The last time I saw a purple, I got into a bidding war which I lost. Admittedly, I think there was another time that a lot was listed as purple, but I thought it was a color that I already had and completely missed it.

Brian 09-20-2024 03:13 PM

Gary, I think you may need to collect some additional variations--what about the color variants WITHOUT the print marks on the right border? Is there such a permutation?

Awesome Jeff, I bought that postcard on eBay a couple years ago when it was raw but the seller cancelled the sale and guessing sold it to someone else. Love it.

Thanks James. Pretty sure we've talked about some of my Memphis prewar collection before. Always a pleasure to be able to add to it.

Terrific pick-up, Jeff. Matty's image will always haunt me.

calvindog 09-23-2024 07:08 PM

Thank you, guys; and David that one is a beauty.

PS: I'm reading a bio of Mike Donlin and I was shocked at how bad some of Mathewson's behavior was with the McGraw Giants. He wasn't quite the choirboy he has been made out to be! In one instance, he assaulted a child who had come onto the field to sell lemonade in the aftermath of a fight between the Giants and Athletics.

T205 Minor League catcher run complete

It took ten years to complete my run of Hick Cady and Lew McAllister with both the Hassan and Polar Bear backs. These players only came in those two backs. The Polar Bear backed T205s are tough to find in nice condition. The other 3 examples are similar to my recent pickup. Love the Minor League T205 designs!
