Thanks!

Many thanks to Daryl, Pete, Sonny, Jeffrey, Chad, Phil, Michael and Luke for the very kind words. Seeing back runs from other Net54 members over the years is what inspired me to do my Jennings run.

Val, I'm just so happy that the card eventually turned up somewhere, and you were able to complete the run. (Now if anybody comes up with a blank back or a red Croft's, consider me shocked!)

The hardest part was waiting several months to surprise you in person. :)

Steve, It's been a month, and I'm still in awe over your and Bryan's awesome kindnesses!

I'm a "never say never" guy, so I'm hoping that someone, perhaps a dedicated Croft's card collector, will come up with a Croft's Jennings with a red back for me (DJ, are you paying attention? :D).

How about a super “non colorful” back run.

The very elusive T206 Brown Back stack back run! It’s not pretty, but it’s cool!

Brown Hindu
Brown Old Mill SL
Brown Lenox
Broad Leaf 460
Broad Leaf 350

Enjoy,
Bob

I just picked up this E104-1 Nadja Caramel card in a trade with Leon that has the same image of Topsy Hartsel as these 3 other type cards that I've had for quite some time. Are there any other cards, other than an E104-1 with a blank back, that I need to obtain in order to complete this small back run of Topsy?

I finally finished off the T206 backs line with a different HOFer in each slot. I needed two Southern League players to fill those two slots, so decided on Shag and Hooker, for obvious reasons! I needed one more player to be able to check off each slot and was lucky enough to be able to add Fred Merkle to fill the Lenox Brown slot. I was hoping it would either be him or Chase, so feel really good about hitting one of my two targets! Average grade is 3.25, with only the Willis Drum being a beater, but I’m looking to upgrade that if anyone will part with a 3-4!

Building the line and only including one each of the HOFers, made it extremely difficult, as I owned 3 different Tinker On and 4 different J Collins cards, along with a few other fronts, until the alignment finally came together. This is my second time doing this, so I knew was I was in for. I didn’t finish last time, so between the four years of working on it this time and nearly ten, the first time, there have been a ton of man hours on the excel sheet and on the BST to get this finished.

I think about half the board has helped in one of the two versions, so I won’t thank everyone here. I do wish Ted could have seen the finished lineup, as he helped me with some of the configurations, when I was working the first time, as I had to work with what I had, versus being able to just go out and buy whatever I needed, much like this time around. Looking forward to getting a good scanned layout of these, after I get fully moved and the scanner set up. I’m hoping to do the layout like Luke, Jamie and some of you other folks have.

For good measure I have the T215 Red Cross McGraw Glove, from Leon’s old collection. The T213-1 is included in this set with the Huggins Port, which I also hope to upgrade.

Picture has the player list with back and the back list, with player to make things a little easier to understand.

The joys of OCD collecting, right here!

Enjoy,
Bob

Congrats Bob! That's a fantastic accomplishment. I look forward to seeing them all together.

Leon 05-23-2025 03:06 PM

Congrats Bob. Job well done. Yes, Ted would have loved seeing you finish your run. He was really a great guy and sure loved the T206s.

I appreciate it, and very happy that there are so many cards from board members in this group and the full HOFer set!

Pics soon!
Bob

Jobu 05-23-2025 09:59 PM

Congrats Bob!!! I have considered trying to do that too but I have managed to keep myself from starting. :)

Hi Bob, so you're the one who got that Merkle Brown Lenox. I wondered where it went. That's an incredible run. Are you going for the other cousins to the T206 set, or just the Coupon Type-1 and Red Cross Type-1 (because they could be T206)?

B O'Brien 05-24-2025 03:52 PM

Hey Sean,
Thanks for the kind words and, yes, I’m super happy to have landed that Merkle! I missed out on the Uzit Merkle from the original run, but super happy to have landed the Brown Lenox instead.

I’ve been trying for the rest of the cousins, but think I came in third on the Pirate Marquard and well short on the Victory Evers recently. I have landed a T213-3 Chase and T213-3 Factory 8 OP Collins, and continue to look for a nice T213-2 HOF portrait to check off that slot.

I burned up a LOT of trading stock to get the BL460 Brown, as the rest of the line was sort of built around get him in that slot, but would love to see if I could track down the Pirate and Victory at least!

Thank again,
Bob

Thanks again to Sonny T. for helping out with my Hofman run! Just acquired this Blank Back...

B O'Brien 05-26-2025 08:49 AM

I sure love all these player back runs! So many different ways to collect, that I had never thought of years ago.

Great looking Hofman run, Mike 😀. They look amazing together 🔥

Wanaselja 05-26-2025 07:50 PM

Sonny T is a HOF member here. He has a world class collection and is always willing to help others out with their own collection needs if he can.

MuncieNolePAZ 05-27-2025 10:48 AM

Awesome run Mike. Congrats on the pick-up.

Chad

Thanks guys! And Adam, I wholeheartedly agree, Sonny is top shelf!

Been awhile (2019) since I was able to add anything new to the run, but the cocoa makes 10. I believe I am now only missing a black croft candy.

Congrats on adding that to the run, DJ!

When it comes to T206 backs, the line of demarcation between tough backs and truly scarce backs seems to start at Hindu. I have been building a Red Sox set with the goal of having a different back for each player in the set. I rolled through PB, Cycle, AB, EPDG, Sov, Tolstoi and Old Mill fairly smoothly within a year or so of starting the project. But since then I have hit a wall trying to find Hindu and Carolina Brights. There's a CB on EBay of Frank Arrelanes but it's for like 10x what I managed to get the other off backs for. Not gonna do that.

So purely anecdotal but the waters sure do seem to get deep once you hit Hindu.
