Thanks! Such a strange 'ghost-like' image. Very interesting indeed.

Even more strange I seem to remember a post showing this image without the guy in the background.

My guess is the guy in the background was throwing/warming up, and his image was blurry. Someone in the production of this Ruth insert decided to eliminate the blur by drawing in the part of his uniform that was 'in-motion'. Quite creepy...they should have left that player's image blurry.

Maybe that dude was blurred into oblivion (new slang term) in later versions of this.

Looks like his shoes are on the wrong legs / feet.

I believe that pitcher was digitally added at some point. Doesn't look like a real person who was physically there.

Hahaha, good find. Not sure if the “artist” was just having some fun, or was just confused.

Agreed. Looks a little like Dutch Ruether.

As we know, it was not uncommon for pitchers to warmup in front of the dugout, and he may have been doing that when Ruth was asked to mug for the camera (note he is nowhere near the ondeck circle). Obviously the pitcher was not about to unload one into the back of the Babe's head, but it is not illogical to think that he was going through (threw) the motions. Still, as noted, his legs look kittywampus.

Knocked a big one off the DS list...I am hoping to finish it up by the spring assuming the high numbers come up. Very pleased with the grade. Have stopped kicking myself for all the time is passed on in for $100 or $200.

CardPadre 10-21-2022 05:59 PM

Had a few better-than-expected grades come in on some stuff I was looking to sell and found myself with the funds to obtain this guy, my first of the four ‘33 Goudeys.

Thanks Bill! For a while I was content to not have the Green Cobb based on cost but as I got towards the end I slowly talked myself into. Good luck in your hunt.

If you are going to spend money, this is the kind of card to spend it on.

After the last couple of weeks, I’m still not quite sure what to call my collection, but for now, guess I’ll continue with what I’ve called it for close to 20 years.

Crandall was an eBay pick-up early last week.

Rube found his way here via Eric Jennings who found him several weeks ago.

Again, that’s to everyone on the board for the heads-ups, and most recently the offers to help with keeping the rebuild going. It has been, and continues to be greatly appreciated.

Nice Delong. It is fun to imagine the oversized identified player being in a Godzilla film, while the little players on the field, like the fellow headed to third base, fleeing in terror.
