And now back open again, with about 8 more minutes.

paul 04-24-2022 10:49 PM

I noticed that two lots that I was bidding (losing) on were down to 2 minutes each. Now they're back up to 8 minutes. Very strange.

Yeah the lot I am winning (hard to believe) keeps resetting.

babraham 04-24-2022 10:49 PM

Wow this is a mess.
Keep thinking I won a couple lots then it just keeps getting extended...the entire auction! It definitely should be lot by lot by now, no?

jayshum 04-24-2022 10:50 PM

Now on the My Bids page, it says closing time is 12:56:00 but some lots say Sold and others say Open even though it is before that time.

chadeast 04-24-2022 10:50 PM

EDIT: This is a dumpster fire.

wondo 04-24-2022 10:50 PM

One of my lots is marked SOLD. The other has had additional time added.

Here's what I am seeing at 12:51.

Peter_Spaeth 04-24-2022 10:52 PM

Eventually someone is going to get drunk enough to outbid me if this keeps up.

sb1 04-24-2022 10:53 PM

Same here. I just bid on a lot, then got outbid and went to rebid and it's closed., others are still open and extended...

YazFenway08 04-24-2022 10:53 PM

One of mine marked “sold”.

Then refreshed and now open again. I understand acts of God, etc….but not sure how they unwind this

Wow! They have messed this up so badly. There are items that should have been won 3 times over now. They can't seem to close off the items with zero activity.

This will not end well for them.... especially for all the lots that should've closed, but received bids waaaaaay beyond the 10 minute window.

jayshum 04-24-2022 10:53 PM

And now everything is open again until 1:00:19. I should probably just give up and go to bed and see if I won anything in the morning.

bounce 04-24-2022 10:54 PM

every new bid keeps extending the whole thing

ok - good luck people

i've had enough

BobbyStrawberry 04-24-2022 10:54 PM

Casey2296 04-24-2022 10:54 PM

Aaron Seefeldt 04-24-2022 10:56 PM

it's all part of the hack. Nothing is working right.

babraham 04-24-2022 10:56 PM

Now every lot I was watching and bidding on shows closed

i would add

if anyone wins the Sovereign pack lot, or the Sweet Cap/Piedmont pack lot, i'd be interested in buying one of each

i don't want all of them enough to keep bidding

If that really happens, there will be a slew of pissed off people. They've already far exceeded the allotted time to bid on lots with no activity in "overtime".

Man, I hope not.
Every bidder that wanted a chance to bid on an item past it's allotted time could have done that over the last hour of this nonsense.

One auction I'm bidding on has been bid up an additional $500 during this...I'm still winning it but these issues have essentially cost me $500 plus BP.

Most of mine too, but one of them shows 23 hours and 58 minutes remaining.

sflayank 04-24-2022 11:02 PM

now says 24hrs left

whiteymet 04-24-2022 11:02 PM

sflayank 04-24-2022 11:03 PM

Probably, but at the same time depending on how many people who had won tonight get outbid tomorrow, may not be pretty.

MR RAREBACK 04-24-2022 11:06 PM

Seems like a good idea to extend another day

LEHR 04-24-2022 11:06 PM

jayshum 04-24-2022 11:06 PM

Hard to believe that no additional information has been sent out via email. I'm getting emails when I place a bid or get outbid so seems like they should be able to send something out to everyone.

nolemmings 04-24-2022 11:07 PM

Mine is letting me raise my bid now, although I am pushing my max limit on some and have exceeded on others. I would raise my bid on one or two if I thought I truly had 10 minutes left but it says I have 20 hours. The old hurry up and wait game.

Just send an update so everyone knows what is going on.

Sean 04-24-2022 11:09 PM

So if it continues tomorrow, can I place an initial bid now?

Kaneen 04-24-2022 11:09 PM

One of the lots I won a couple of times...then lost a couple of times...and now currently am winning again...says it is open for bidding with 19 hours and 55 minutes left.

I'm betting we get an email that says they are extending this til tomorrow night. And now our high bids are "sitting ducks" for bidders to regroup and decide they want back in.

Casey2296 04-24-2022 11:10 PM

Unbelievable

jayshum 04-24-2022 11:11 PM

I just called REA and there was a recording saying they are aware of problems and are working on them. All communications will be through email and they will extend the auction as necessary. No option to talk to anyone.

troutbum97 04-24-2022 11:12 PM

They really should check the time stamps of the bids, remove any & all bids after midnight sharp tonight (when the server crashed), and resume/ restart the auction at midnight tomorrow w/ 10 min clocks on all lots.

Yes.... it sucks. Prospective bidders already had a full hour (instead of the normal 10 minutes) to bid on items with no activity. Now they'll get an additional 24 hours.

REA has records of when each bid was placed. Tomorrow they should close off all the lots that received no activity in overtime, and only extend the lots that showed activity during the extended bidding.

I doubt this will happen, but it's absolutely the right thing to do.

Seriously, there's been plenty of time to bid on all lots, more than usual! They really need to find a way to close this tonight.

Just emailed

Thank you for your patience during this time. Access to the site is restored but we understand that some users may still be experiencing issues. As such, in accordance with our Terms & Conditions, we are extending the auction in order to allow for uninterrupted access. In order to effect this plan, the auction servers may start and stop at various points in the short term.

The auction will now end Monday, April 25 at 9 PM EDT. In lieu of extended bidding, the auction will go directly into the 10-minute lot-by-lot closing at 9 PM EDT. Please note that during this extension, only bidders who were qualified to participate during extended bidding will be allowed to participate.

Please stay tuned to your email for updates.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

I was high bidder on a lot going into the first extended bidding. No more bids came in. No bids during the up-down fiasco period either. So now they are going to give people another day to outbid me.

What is most annoying is that the company has really screwed this up, yet they will benefit by extending time to get more bids. And bidders like us who read the rules and p[layed by them get the rug pulled out from under us.

And.............. having inadequate server horsepower to conduct the auction properly is NOT an "act of God." God could figure out how to do this (like split the auction close over 2 or 3 days like Heritage does.)

Seems like they've already gone above and beyond for the extending of the auction.
The 10min lot by lot turned into every single auction just being open another day from the looks of it.

Kaneen 04-24-2022 11:15 PM

Yep it's official...we now get to start this all over again tomorrow night at 9pm. Wonder if we can all just retract our bids in a solidarity protest? Lol

Anything else would be really wrong!

They are saying the auction is extended till 9PM tommorow. Does that mean new bidders can come in on lots they weren't bidding on?? That shouldn't be allowed either. Auction should be "paused" till 9 PM tomorrow and then opened with the 10 minute rule in play.

troutbum97 04-24-2022 11:16 PM

New AH method to fish for extra bids.

This extension just gives losing bidders time to regain their testosterone levels, tranquilize their wives, do some fuzzy math, and make some "creative" accounting maneuvers to get themselves back in the game.

It's tempting.

Consignors must be giddy. Bidders, not so much. I wonder how many lots were "won" only to be lost tomorrow?

Not to be smart but seems like a good idea to get it right when you are supposed to get it right.
This happens too often at too many AH’s.
I for one am in the aggravated camp when it comes to these happenings. Not like it is some low level mom&pop AH.
I guess I’m not tech savvy enough to understand, but I am reasonably certain eBay rarely crashes and going out on a limb ,I would wager a heck of a lot more bidding there at any given moment.
Really wish wanting a card that I have been researching for weeks and now this didn’t get me down. But man I really want that card.

Rant over. Probably the right thing to do given the situation.

They should extend another week. It’s possible that some people have to travel tomorrow and therefor can’t bid. Maybe some people will sleep for 24 consecutive hours and miss their chance. I think they should extend 2 weeks actually now that I’m thinking about it.

That solution would absolutely be the completely fair thing to do...put the entire thing on pause back to the moment things all fell apart, then restart it at the same hour tomorrow from that point. (Cue Bill Murray...it's like Groundhog Day all over again!)

It makes so much sense...so there is absolutely no chance this will happen.

Not saying this isn't an optimal solution, but there's no magic button to doing that for 3500 lots automatically, it would have to be done manually. At 30 seconds labor per lot (which is very optimistic) it would would take roughly 29 man hours to do this. I don't know what their available labor pool is at 1am on a Sunday night but I'm guessing it's not a dozen people who could blow that out in a couple hours.
