Great one, Val!!

Also, very nice, Chris. I like the bold back ink.

Nice pick up Val!

ValKehl 01-12-2022 10:00 PM

Thanks, Steve & Bob. Lots of really nice pickups thus far this month, especially T206s. But, my favorite is the Zeenut w/tab of Duffy Lewis.

103 down, 1 to go

Three recent pickups, now down to just 1 card (#122 Tenney NY) to finish the set! Jordan & Herzog is a BST pickup, thanks gooseman91. And a big thanks to jayshum for the BST heads up!! A Jennings with good eye appeal turned out to be a very tough get for me.

Chad, good luck finding the Tenney to complete your set. You've got a little over a week until we get to it in the T3 thread. :)

The recent E220 thread (from which I learned that all "true" E220s look like this) inspired me to pull the trigger on this Coveleski for my Cleveland HOF type card collection. Coveleski was also the last Cleveland HOF player for whom I didn't have a playing-career-era card.

Fantastic addition. He is a "tougher" Hall of Famer to the surprise of many. He's also in some fantastic sets (like the E220), but most of his cards are all the same pose which is somewhat annoying.

Congrats on completing the Cleveland portion of the Hall of Fame (for now)!

Thanks Phil, Jay, and the other Chad! Jay, don't hold your breath on this last one, I have a feeling I'm in for a long search, considering my previous luck with 'last' cards :)

I like adding T209 to the set but am getting antsy for a T210 want list hit lol. That said I really like the Chandler image.

Just added this Zach Wheat to the T206 Brooklyn set I’m building. This and a Kaiser Wilhelm from the same Greg Morris eBay auction get me to 14/27.

And Andrew, nice Branch Rickey V100! I just looked. I think I'm down to four V100s needed to complete the set...Rickey is one of them. If you ever see another and want to make a buck off me, just say the word.

Charles, nice pickup! Although Lee/Sterling called this a score card, it is actually a 1924 World Series program (the Washington version).

It seems to be a little of both--like a really elaborate Scorecard/Program. As you can see in the first picture, it does say "Official Score Card" on the front, and if you click on the flickr link, it shows the Scorecard for the Senators. Interestingly, on the cardboard that Sterling/Lee used to protect it, is written "1924 W.S. Program"

In one of Goldin's auctions, they called what I bought a "World Series Program Scorecard": https://goldinauctions.com/1924_gian...-lot14648.aspx
while Heritage has also called it a ScoreCard: https://sports.ha.com/itm/baseball-c...Auction-120115 as has the Smithsonian: https://americanhistory.si.edu/colle...t/nmah_1347772
Meanwhile, Mile High called it a Program: https://www.milehighcardco.com/1924-...-lot32219.aspx but calls it an "official scorecard" in their description.

Goldin Auctions had a lot in one of their other auctions that they titled "1924 World Series Program" that appears to be the equivalent, but for game 5 at the Polo Grounds, and which has a scorecard for the Giants.https://goldinauctions.com/LotDetail...entoryid=11489 So did REA: https://robertedwardauctions.com/auc...s-program-game

So perhaps it is a Program that has a scorecard?

Thanks, Ethan. Nice one, Leon, the double-named T213-2's are good for researching the year or years a card could have been released, in this case, 1914 or 1915.

I've been wanting to add an example from this tough pin set for a long while since it fits my A's/Phillies type collection from the dead ball era. Was happy to finally pick one up for the collection this month.

Judging from the fact that the Barry pin wasn't one of the 22 examples from the Paul Muchinsky collection that were sold in the most recent Hake's auction, I would surmise that Barry might be an extra tough common in what can already be considered a scarce pin set.

Just got this W502 of "Goose" from Greg Morris via eBay. Even though GM sells zillions of cards, I think this is my first purchase from GM.

I really wish this card was of Sam Rice, instead of Goose Goslin, as I need a W502 of Rice with this back and also with the THREE BAGGER back for my master Sam Rice card collection. Can anyone help?

Thanks, Pete. The notebook is barely holding together, but I still had to get it because I'd never seen it before. (The seller still has one more copy that he wants to keep for himself so it's not unique.)

Big mail day for me. Not the nicest Wheaties, but if you've seen BIN prices, people have gone bat poop crazy with prices. This came up for auction and I knew that I'd get it for a great deal. I also knew that it would look great behind Rajah! And sure enough it does. Poor Foxx, though, he got stuck in the worst position.

Seller was Teamwirk on ebay, he had postcards BIN if anyone is interested.

I just obtained what almost certainly will be my Pickup of the Year 2022 for my master set of Sam Rice cards. I noted this 1-of-1 1921 Queen City Cigar Store card in the SGC pop report several years ago, but I figured my chances of ever acquiring it to be less than "slim and none."

Now then, perhaps I can get a hot streak going. There are 2 other similar Rice cards issued around the same time by West Coast companies, that I've noted in the pop reports, and that I'd love to add to my Rice collection, if possible - they are a Keating Candy and a Witmor Candy Type 2 (has the vertical ad back). If anyone can help me locate either of these cards, I'll be most appreciative.
