Fascinating thread. That 1960 logo variation is an eye opener. Learn something everyday, or at least try to! I would imagine those Korean cards haunt many the player collector.
My rarest card (thanks to Joe T, who hunted this one down for me) is a signed 1952 Bowman Mantle. There are only 19 signed, as compared to 3400 graded unsigned in the PSA pop report. It is the second rarest of all signed basic issue Topps/Bowman Mantle cards, behind the 1952 Topps, of which there are 14 examples in the pop data. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...ec0f4884_c.jpg |

I have a few of these, got all together and haven't seen any others.
https://www.net54baseball.com/pictur...ictureid=10144https://www.net54baseball.com/pictur...ictureid=10145 And crazily enough ended up with the complete set of these, only 25 cards not all sports. Some are 1/1 and something like 6 of the 25 weren't cataloged until this find. https://www.net54baseball.com/pictur...ictureid=16702https://www.net54baseball.com/pictur...ictureid=16701 |
As far as I know this is the only T205 Hugh Duffy with a Hindu back...I bought it at a Richmond VA show in 1998 or 1999https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...dedc6be19e.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...0edf6a63f2.jpg

I love seeing a thread with so many cards that were once part of my collection. Glad they give other members so much pleasure!
I still have a few regrets (from sales), but money allocated to cards is limited. For me, I have to sell in order to buy… Keep ‘em coming! |
I guess I should add one - a 1926 Kut-Out Yankees of Earle Combs (rookie)

a lot of postcards would be one of ones....but there is always a chance another could pop up.

Love seeing all the GREAT cards shown!
At first glance this looks like the quite common 1967 Topps pinup insert. It differs in a number of ways - 1) It is printed on sticker stock (similar to 67 Pirates/Red Sox stickers and 68 Action all star stickers) 2) there is no number 3) The image is much crisper than on the pin-ups. It has been examined by many experts - a consensus of opinion is it was a 1 off prototype done by Topps - not even making it to a testing phase. To date it is the only example of any player I have ever seen. |

The Huggins is a Pop Report of 6 between SGC/PSA.
The Phillippi from what I can find is a Pop1 w/ SGC. I'm not exactly sure how rare this one is, but it's one of my favorite cards in my collection. Wonderful cards being shown in this topic. Love it! Bill |

Definitely this one for me in terms of rarity. 1 of 2 across both SGC and PSA. The very hard to find W516-2-3 set (I saw someone post a Ruth earlier).
For those that care - the differences between the W516 variations are subtle but noticeable. The W516-2-3 version is the normal font and non-mirrored image. If you've never learned the differences, Old Cardboard sums it up perfectly: https://oldcardboard.com/w/w516/w516.asp?cardsetID=818 |

Most of the cards from this series are in the single digits of known copies. This one carries the star power, although I believe the Robinson (which I also own -with many thanks to Brian VH) is the only known.

Here is a hobby unicorn: an R340 Sport Kings premium of Dempsey, Baer and Carnera using an image from the MGM film The Prizefighter and the Lady. There are two known SK premiums, this one and a Weissmuller. The alleged Ruth that was sold some years ago is a proof, not the as-issued card.

I may be able to joust ya; on the, "least desirable"; lol. 'Wickey' McAvoy, an 18 yr-old catcher from Rochester, NY; after his team had a series with the Baltimores; is signed by Connie Mack's A's, as a back-up catcher. Subsequently is sent to Baltimore for seasoning. While there, McAvoy catches a young pitcher named Ruth; undoubtedly is reporting analysis of this young pitcher back to Philly. When Mack begins negotiations with Dunn of Baltimore, Mr. Mack feels $10K is a bit steep for his liking; prolly thinking negotiations will follow. The rest is history as Boston came a calling. My guess is that after the passing of Powers and ATC pulling his card from the 350 run; someone from the A's office acquired this card from the printer (nameplate removed, no shadow); inserted it into the ol' typewriter (anyone remember those? lol) and gave Wickey his own 'card'; this was a big deal to some back then, having your own baseball card. I am still digging on this backstory but wanted to share what I have. https://www.net54baseball.com/pictur...ictureid=30243 https://www.net54baseball.com/pictur...ictureid=32311 Ben (Lover of all baseball history backstory; especially when it involves cards!) |

Since a few collectors have previously posted Post-War items, I thought I'd post this fairly rare, desirable card of Pete Rose. But, Pete is not the reason for it being in my humble collection. I enjoy collecting unique '50s and '60s White Sox memorabilia; and this bad boy includes 3 Chisox Topps Rookie All-Star Team selections.

What great cards in this thread. Thanks to all of those sharing.
Picked this up a few days ago. Canceled on back to 1907. I don't remember seeing one like it (there must be others) . Not in hand but shipped... Love the cubs.... https://luckeycards.com/chicago.jpg |

A few rare cabinets and a few color freaks

Guessing my rarest cards would be either my T4 Obak Cabinets or my Old Mill Cabinet.
The John Tiedeman T4 Obak Cabinet was trimmed to the oval, whereas the Claude Berry T4 Obak Cabinet is complete. The Joseph Laughlin H801-7 Old Mill Cabinet is one of my favorite items. I also have some "color freaks" which would qualify as rare. They include a Otto Miller B18, a E92 Harry Bemis, and a E102 Red Kleinow. Patrick |

Okay. Since I've seen both postcards and post-war cards posted, I'll add a few.
I have no illusions of waking up with anything comparable to most of what I've seen...especially Mr. Kenny Cole - I'm just sharing what I still have: Attachment 493681 Attachment 493682Attachment 493683 FYI- I had earlier posted my hand-cut '41 Play Ball- Hubbell and asked if anyone knew how rare it is. I'd still be interested in any details. - |

Amazing cards, cabs , postcards on this thread! Don't want to slight anyone by naming favorites so great collections gents.
This thread is right up my alley as tough to find cards have always been a focus of my collection. Just my personal choice but I would rather own a card that not too many others have rather than a card that can be easily found. Probably have enough to bore you guys with for a couple of hours :) All M101-6 Mendelsohns are relatively scarce but these 3 are never seen. Two of them are obvious team changes. Sam Crawford is a 1/1 for now . Probably there is another one out there |

Grover Alexander is usually seen with the Cubs.
This is both a team and photo change as his first year with Chicago was 1918 |

Three of my rarest cards......
I acquired this unique gem in Cooperstown, NY in 1991. It is a significant piece of Baseball History, for there was no Major League WORLD SERIES played in 1904.
Mgr. John McGraw of the NY Giants (NL Champs) refused to play Boston (AL Champs). Therefore, the Eastern League (AAA) Buffalo Bisons became the de facto.... "1904 World Champions" https://photos.imageevent.com/tedzan...sonsTeam50.jpg Speaking about McGraw......the only known McGraw (glove) card with a UZIT back. http://photos.imageevent.com/tedzan7...ZITxSGC30x.jpg http://photos.imageevent.com/tedzan7...loveUZITxb.jpg Fall of 1952, BOWMAN issued this very artistic 144-card FB set. In order to compete with the very popular larger size 1952 Topps BB cards, Bowman re-sized their regular set of FB cards. Then re-issued these larger size cards circa Winter of '52. I acquired this sheet in 1982, at a Hobby shop in Media, Pennsylvania http://photos.imageevent.com/tedzan7...etLarge19x.jpg This unique sheet includes FB stars.....Sammy Baugh, Otto Graham, Y. A. Tittle, Charlie Justice, Charley Trippi, Hugh McElhenny, and Frank Gifford (rookie card). http://photos.imageevent.com/tedzan7...perLarge25.jpg TED Z T206 Reference . |
Alas no Toleteros Gibson for me.

I own this championship medal given to John McGraw for the 1904 season, declaring the Giants the champions for 1905 (issued in Oct of 1904, making then “champions” for the next season until a new champ is declared) |
Only one on SGC database, none on PSA (last I checked)
