I have been hunting the E254 Toledo Flick for couple years and was able to add the Red Border Flick from the same collector.

Those T3s are beauties, Chad. Such a cool set.

Jealous but Congrats |
It's been a long time since I've posted a card pickup (mostly photos etc these days), but I did get these two guys recently. 1886 Red Stocking Cigar trade cards of Radbourn and Morrill. Taken out of a Boston-area scrapbook, they have sadly been trimmed down quite a bit. Each measures about 5-1/2" x 2.5". As issued they should be 6-1/2" x 3-3/4", so approximately 75% of each card is still present. But the Radbourn I believe is his rookie card, so 75% is better than none.
Any opinions as to whether or not SGC or PSA will authenticate these with the heavy trim? They are definitely (IMO) real RS Cigar cards. Notice around the edges front and back the small bits of red text still left, which align perfectly with the text on the full 1886 cards. https://i.ibb.co/LPJMXLR/1886-RSCiga...Morrill-s2.jpg https://i.ibb.co/bLzhs9j/1886-RSCiga...ill-rev-s2.jpg |

You outbid me for the E94 Sam Crawford in the Collector Connection auction. Such a cool card. Congrats! |

Years ago I had some equally heavily trimmed tobacco/cigar cards from a couple different obscure and very rare 1880's cigar card issues as well. They had no problem encapsulating and marking them all as "A" for me. And unless something has drastictly changed with them over the past several years, would assume they can do the same for you. No experience or clue regarding how PSA would handle them though. Those look amazing by the way. Good luck. |
Thanks for the input re: SGC, BobC!

Not a new pick-up, but re-discovered in the bottom of one of my desk drawers where I must have put them to keep them flat. I completely forgot I had these. The stamps are really great for some kind of display. I have my work cut out for me.

And no idea why images are upright when shot and uploaded, but show up on their sides here. Sorry. |

I’ve never loved this card because I don’t think there is much resemblance to Ruth… But all of the questions about this issue intrigued me… and it’s early!
|
Pete, isn't your Ruth card supposedly his first in a Yankee uniform?

Nice pickup! |
The right one finally came along thanks to REA, the pickup of a lifetime for me and one that makes completing the T3 set now actually seem possible! This card is in a PSA AA holder, the holder's been cropped out as I've done in all of my T3 scans. Despite the alteration, it's a really beautiful T3 Cobb IMO and I'm proud to be the new owner.

Ole Diz and his original "Gas House" in Bradenton
http://imagehost.vendio.com/a/204295...PAGE15_NEW.JPG
...I found this inside a pamphlet , it's page 15 , about Bradenton , Florida , which is the area just South of Tampa where the St. Louis Cardinals held their Spring training in the thirties , back when Diz was a household name , and always a great interview ( and promoter , and marketer)..."The Gas House Gang" of players who were always hanging around the place were great fodder for the sportswriters of the time........we on this forum here were all born too late , dang it... .http://imagehost.vendio.com/a/204295...ZYDEAN_NEW.JPG .. |
Glad to add one of these beauties to the collection...can't complain about this 1.5!

Love that '14 Cobb, and those Green Ruths. People sleep on how hard that 181 is to find perfectly registered.
I am beyond thrilled to add this piece to my collection. With the rookie and '17s having gone interstellar, for early Ruth pitching this is pretty much "the" one that's kinda sorta still obtainable— at least for the moment. Finally decided to consolidate a ton of stuff into the right one. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...07da8455_c.jpg |

I felt so lucky when I found mine, a couple of years ago. Cool thing for me is; I try to stay "old school" as much as I can; an RC is a first appearance in circulated product; excludes, supplements, post cards, game cards and the like. I strongly believe that the 1908 E91A Bresnahan is his true RC. https://www.net54baseball.com/pictur...ictureid=32320 Ben (Lover of all baseball history backstory; especially when it involves cards!) |
