Thanks and appreciated everyone
The hardest part was waiting until I found one with the combination of eye appeal and grade that I wanted. And it looks like it has been another strong month for the forum members with new pick ups. And with 2 weeks to go looking forward to seeing more. |
Look out, Mr. Pitcher!
Love that Fro-Joy. Quote:

I had to look as I wasn't even sure.!!!
Wow! Only 6 graded with 1 higher! |
Dave and Jay very nice cards
Love have crisp the Red is on the Crawford |
A big T3 pickup for me. This card has very rarely been offered for sale in the past six months (AFAIK), in my grade/price range or really any grade, so I was really pleased to pick up a nice copy.

First T206

I realize this is almost heretical on this page, but this is my very first T206 - I got it because it's my wife's favorite player, and of course he doesn't have a T205 card:

The upgrade... That is a surface scratch in the lower area not a wrinkle, though it looks the same.
Thanks Peter! |

This was in the last REA auction and apparently was trimmed a little on the top and bottom, but I'm happy to add it to the T205 set I'm working on.

1921 Ruth

Picked up a batch of 28 E121's early last month.....all in poor, but presentable condition except for this Ruth which was in REALLY poor condition as some kid back in the day loved this card to death!! He probably kept it in his pocket everyday for a year and somehow a crease didn't cut through Babe's face, which is a miracle.
PSA wouldn't slab it according to their customer service rep because the graders noted 'it was too fragile' even after the card saver II it was returned in had a 1 (mk) notation under the 'No Grade' flip. Glad to see SGC came through!! |

That is still a nice looking Ruth and even with the condition I think he presents fine. Nice addition to you collection. |

I picked up a few Ruths this month. I think I might have posted the Churchman's earlier somewhere, but all 3 are recent pickups, so I figure I might as well post them all together. :)
I also picked up this nifty little dual auto card in the same auction as the Ruths. And since I just can't help myself... I know, I know, it's neither pre-war nor baseball, but it still might be my new favorite card and Halloween is a great day to play show-n-tell. https://i.imgur.com/fZxF6IQ.jpg https://i.imgur.com/xpNmcyq.jpg https://i.imgur.com/xp5hvWI.jpg https://i.imgur.com/qEp4kmU.jpg |
