With my turn towards vintage film posters and collectibles, these next two are right up my alley. This one was originally titled "Abbott and Costello Meet The Killers". As A&C movies go, it is somewhat forgettable in the labyrinth of their films. What ended up making the title rather collectible, however, was that five days before shooting on the film began, they were able to sign someone new to play the role of the lead villain, and his star power at the time was so great that they put his name in the title of the film. It became "Abbott and Costello Meet The Killer Boris Karloff. The part was originally written for a woman. Paper from this title is collectible mostly due to Karloff's work in the film. The fact that it is Bud Abbott's personal script for the film is amazing.

This is an awesome piece.
Had I not overlooked these this particular one would have at least cost you some more money.:)

Great pickup.

I landed a few white whales and am all around super-psyched about last night.

Awesome pickups, Ryan! Those are some of the most iconic cards in the hobby!

I thought prices were strong but the W600 Cobb went very cheap.

$300k is very cheap? Thought it went for what it was expected to go for.

Thanks Gary.

Jeff, yes I thought it went cheap (maybe I could have left out the “very”). I would have put the over/under at $375k, and I would have bet the over (and lost). I guess on that one, only one whale needed it; or I am just off.

Quite a few high end collectors were after it, consensus over/under was $300k, at least among the ones I spoke to that were actually after it.

Special card for sure, you should have grabbed it! Wonder how long before we see another.

ill take the under on 3 years!

I hope another comes out in 3 years.

REA had so many great cards in this auction that I wanted. My concern on the W600 Cobb was that I would get into a bidding war (above $300k) that I would ultimately lose, and end up missing out on the other cards I wanted; that’s the risk/downfall of a lot by lot closing. In retrospect, seeing where it closed, I may have given up what I “won” for the Cobb instead. Regardless, great piece and hope another comes out within 3 years.

Possibly he voted it would go for more than that Mike Trout card.
