Great pick ups so far- too many to mention, but especially the t206s and the Gandil Green-Joyce

These are paid for/checks in the mail, but none are in hand yet... (I can’t get the Crofts Cocoa backpic to post, but it has a clean back)

Darn you, Ryan! I was the underbidder on that SGC 7 Matty. Gorgeous card. Nicely done.

After a slow month in January, I have had a brisk month of February with regards to pickups. These three arrived today.

Picked up a George Gibson T205 with American Beauty back on eBay, then a Billy Sullivan from Sterling Sports Auctions, and lastly another Eddie Ainsmith T207. Weird how my pickups went in American Card Catalog order!

Nice pickup on the Gibson AB, Patrick. I made a half-hearted attempt to pick it up on the cheap simply because they are super rare, but in the end, just drove the price up on you. Sorry about that -- had I known who I was bidding against, I'd have happily settled for only having one, and backed off.

Cheers,

Richard.

Nice job Jason! Getting a pose run is a pretty tough task to pull off. Let me take a wild guess, are Jim Powell, Mouse Glenn and Billy Nash the other three players you are going to do a pose run on? If so, Powell will probably be the most challenging. Good luck !

I am not really a card guy anymore than I am a photo guy, but this pairing was just too neat for me to pass up doing. Always like players like Bill Bruton, who have a rich contextual relationship to a ball club. On Opening Day 1953 (at Crosley Field), he became the first Milwaukee Brave to:

-Come to bat in an official major league game.

-Get a base hit in an official major league game

-Score a run in an official major league game.

Number 337 in the rebuild collection arrived today

2 Attachment(s)
And while I'm excited with every one that is added, this one is cool because it is one of the "lost cards." John Scott contacted me late last week and said he had one he wanted to reunite with the others and in our discussion, found out it was a Bergen that he had acquired at the same time I was just starting to really focus my collection on only Howe's cards. But I had missed this one on eBay, and only had the scans from that auction back in 2009. It arrived today, and comparing the scans, it is the Lost Bergen. With it off the list, that leaves 37 cards I know exist with the stamp on them, 27 of which I have no idea where they are. But even one off that list is big. Thanks, John.

Hot Springs Bathers 02-27-2019 11:41 AM

Ed have you ever found a duplicate of a card also stamped?

Howe’s Hunter 02-27-2019 12:01 PM

Yes, Mike, there are many duplicates

Going back to March of 2017 (the last time I really counted), of the 311 cards I had at that time, there are 238 that had one card of the player/pose, 59 had two copies of the player in that pose, 12 cards had three of in the same player/pose, and two cards I with four copies of the same player/pose.

We can up that last one just a bit, because one of the cards I got from REA in the fall was copy number four of Lundgren/Chicago.

Seems strange that he had four of a card that is/was considered one of the tougher commons. Another one is Southern Leaguer Ed Foster, with a Hindu back. I have two, and I know of one more example that is out there, but isn't mine. Tough card with a tough back.

Makes me wonder as older collectors decide to sell or their heirs sell what other rarer cards might come out that have the stamp.
