Ruth RRPC
2 Attachment(s)
Picked this up recently as I thought it was just cool. 3.75x5.5 RRPC from 1933.
Since it was mailed from DC I'm assuming this is from the first game of a double header that happened on May 31st against Washington that Ruffing pitched (postcard was mailed on 6/9). He lost the game so maybe he should have been more concentrated on warming up rather than the guy taking the photo of Ruth. :) |

Cool Ruth RPPC, missed that one on ebay! Here's a few new photos I got yesterday:
First are two 1919 snapshots of Jim Bottomley (pictured at right in both photos). These snapshots show Jim as a teenager playing semi-professional baseball for the F G Aces. Soon after, Jim was discovered by Branch Rickey and signed with the St. Louis Cardinals. Next is a cool 1922 photograph (5.5" x 3.5") of four Omaha Buffaloes players. Seated from left to right are: George Grantham, Heinie Manush, James Wilcox & Pug Griffin Thanks for the cool photos Derek! |

Picked this up today. Not sure what this is or where it's from. Measures around 12x15. Ideas?

Hi-
I actually just sold that exact item in a local (MA) auction this past Monday. I am not sure if yours is the same or not. On mine the Ruth picture was loose so I could see the back which was blank. I believed my item to be a 1980s or newer fantasy/reproduction item based on the lack of aging and overall appearance. Did you get it in MA? I assumed the auction was going to place it in a bulk lot so hopefully, if it was mine, you didn't pay much for it. I think it displays nicely regardless. Alan |
Bought it in RI so I guess it’s possibly the same one. For $1, I wasn’t going to pass it up.
|
Definitely modern but for a buck, great pickup!

I normally don’t post until I have the card in-hand, but I’m really excited about this pickup at LOTG last night. It’s not every day you win a card for less than your max bid. And it’s not every auction house that you can actually trust with a max bid! Obviously LOTG is one of the rare ones.
|
Nice DJ, I was hoping you were the one who won that lot. Those red Crofts are so cool.
Orlando- if I knew how to make a clapping-hands emoji, I would drop one here. Congrats |

The bookends on this thread are two amazing cards. |
Thanks Steven. It's the '27, not the '25.. Not quite like the opening card in the thread but I'm happy!

Thanks, Bryan & Ryan.
I think it went low, due to 4 auctions closing that night...or maybe a few of my friends laid-off, who knew I was chasing it(?)... ;) |

Thanks, they are mine. Was going to break them up and keep a few favs but really like them all!
|
Damn, Jeff, those are incredible. Can you tell us more about that issue? I’d imagine they’re very obscure/rare?
|
Jeff, those are great. Why are there so many Cubs? Is that a complete set?
|
Supposed to be 50 in the set but think only thirty something are known. Produced by the JKA photo studio of New York. Not sure why so many Cubs in this grouping or why they are all unmounted, perhaps an old Chicago area collector?

Davis E92s
DJ, as impressive as the Red Crofts is I am impressed by the Nadja more I think......great condition........Jerry
|
Thanks guys,
John, I'm glad that is all I had to pay! At this time, I'm pretty confident there are 3 red croft Davis graded by SGC. I also already own a blank back. So a back run isn't out of the thinking, although the VE and E105 I think would be quite tough. Jerry, as nice as the nadja is, I really can't justify keeping it. I already have a nice one for my set, so would much rather recoup some of the costs for this lot. DJ |

Picked up T205 #67...almost 1/3 of the way there!!! This one looks pretty good with amazing registration...and a price I could stomach considering these seem to always be listed at premium prices in my experience.
