I had similar thoughts. Would be cool if members could unite and win all auctions at one time and either never pay or return them all. The only problem with returning would be having to wait 15 days to get your money back.

I have won two auctions from war_eagle_vintage and was following some of his recent card auctions on eBay. I looked in Friday and saw they were all removed. I inquired with eBay and they informed me there is “potential fraud”. I searched sand found this informative board and decided to join. I have since requested returns of the two cards purchased from this seller and am awaiting his response.

I also had messsged the seller as to why his cards were removed. His response was “he reached his limit.” Ha!

Thank you to all you kind folks for this information.

Welcome, and nice first post. Too bad you had to deal with this seller to find us.

As of tonight, War Eagle has one card listed, a '55 Topps RC of 'Killer' Killebrew, one of my favorite cards of one of my favorite players. However, think I shall refrain from bidding. Hmm.

Yep - he had > 400 cards that were delisted by eBay. One was a 52 Mantle with a pin hole top center that I was following as well as a near perfect centered 56 Mantle.

2 questions/comments...

1. I'm really surprised Ebay told you there was potential fraud. It just doesn't seem Ebay like to reveal that kind of info, or any for that matter. It's kinda nice to hear!

2. How can you tell if a card has been de-listed by Ebay or just pulled from the seller? Is there a way to see that?

Thanks for contributing. I hope you get your money back on your two cards. If you suggest ANY issue with the cards you purchased, be sure to demand the seller pay your return fees. I did when the seller was formerly known as Battlefield and was promptly send a return label. Granted it took the full 15 days to get my refund and all of the cards were re-listed and sold again before I got my money back. But I got it back.

I can't answer for the person you are speaking to but I can say that ebay does have a few people that can make it happen. I am told there were a few other accounts taken down, linked to the same fraudulent seller too.

Maybe I used the wrong term but when I clink on one of his cards that I had "Watched" it indicates The listing "12 digit number" has been removed, or this item is not available" It happened so quickly on Friday, I just assumed they delisted. Last night I was getting the 24 hour notifications of a card's auction soon coming to an end, so I assume ebay did this. If the seller removed, I'm not sure I would still received the notification. Just my two cents...again I could be wrong...

Well war_eagle_vintage accepted my returns of the two Willie Mays cards (1958 & 1960) I purchased from him on eBay. I will update once I have received the funds.

Why were they returned?? Did they not look as nice in person?

I am not an expert in determining whether the cards were altered or trimmed, so I did not want to take any chances with someone who is known to have done this in the past. He had a 30-day return policy.

bigfanNY 12-20-2017 08:25 PM

Wow missed this one. I purchased 2 wheaties panels from this seller. Only post I saw was under ebay sales a member posted that a nice batch of wheaties was for sale... is this member somehow connected with this seller? I will update this when cards arrive. I won a Gheringer and Medwick with what looked like full borders.

No, that was my post. I was blown away by the selection of Wheaties panels. Then saw they thread here and was immediately sorry I had referenced someone else's auction, and I deleted my post.

bigfanNY 12-20-2017 10:01 PM

Lol I to was blown away by Wheaties selection. I have been looking for a Gehringer with a full border for awhile to display with my mini. The Medwick goes along with my NJ ballplayers collection.

Battlefield, is that you??

Maybe I'm way off-base here, but I just ran across the newest little Auction House on the block, Candiman Auctions. http://www.candimanauctions.com/
Unusually, nearly all lots are ungraded, and many look a little "too good". Hmmm, now where have I seen this before....
Based in Alabama, apparently, per their Contact info and Disclaimers. Is this ringing any bells??

Are we seeing Battlefield Vintage/War_Eagle_Vintage's Swan Song?
It certainly looks like everything must go.

I was disciplined enough to stay away from them on Ebay, thankfully, but even if I were entertaining a cheeky bid with this Auction House, the terms are enough to conclusively scare me away.
I'm not a lawyer, but I'm also not an idiot, and I have NO idea what this means! LOL. Caveat Emptor to the maxx.

13. Authenticity
: "Candiman Auctions takes extreme pride in the authentication of the material offered within our auctions. All items are sold as 100% genuine and every effort has been made to ensure the authenticity of each item in our auction. In many instances we use reputable third party authentication. While we as a firm perform due diligence in order to maintain the integrity of our auctions, we encourage bidders to use every resource available to them to draw their own conclusions. As a firm we will make every effort to help in the process. Because of our efforts to ensure the authenticity of the items within the auction as well as the opportunity we offer bidders to confirm our findings as well as that of our experts and third party authentication, it is our policy that all sales will be considered final".

What the?? Thoughts from the experts?

Peter_Spaeth 03-03-2018 08:00 PM

How many auction houses state that sales are not final?

No problem with auction sales being final, of course.
It's the stumbling, ham-fisted justification of all sales being final in their Disclaimer that seemed unusual.

Vague statements about "efforts", "opportunities" and "our experts" wouldn't give me much solace upon receiving a Trimmed card back from a TPG, post-auction.
Or receiving a disappointing card that was photoshop-enhanced in the auction catalog.

I stays away from that danger. ;)

I received a message from the woman who runs Battlefield telling me they sent their cards to this auction house and that they gave up selling on eBay.

Wow, thanks -- that's really interesting info for the community to know.

Although I'd be shocked if it isn't her or her direct partners who operate this Auction site.
The backstory on the website says it was founded by two brothers, Daniel and Justin Candiman, who "played various sports". The hobby isn't that big -- does anyone know if these guys are real?
Candiman Auctions didn't even exist before mid-January 2018, and they have never conducted even one single auction prior. Nearly all the cards look to be raw, which was always her (Battlefield's) M.O. on eBay.

I will continue to steer well clear, personally

Good catch on this Jason. A quick google search of their names provided an interesting result......"No results found for "daniel Candiman".", and for Justin, just this thread came up as a result. Perhaps the last name was mistakenly mis-spelled on the website.

ALR-bishop 03-04-2018 06:47 AM

Based on Peter's thread "various sports" might include chess or Chutes and Ladders

PiratesWS1979 03-04-2018 07:09 AM

I've already received three emails from Candiman Auctions in my junk folder in less than a month. I ended up buying an SGC graded card from War_Eagle so I guess there fishing for more.

The answer is too obvious. Problem solved.

Who can take a sunrise
Sprinkle it in dew
Cover it in chocolate

The candyman can
The candyman can cause he mixes it with love and makes the world taste good
Who can take a rainbow
Wrap it is a sigh
Soak it in the sun
and make a strawberry lemon pie?

They guarantee that they are authentic, not that they are unaltered. I don't recall them ever selling fakes or reprints.

I got the email as well which is a bit surprising since I gave Battlefield about 30 negatives. Must have forgotten to take me off the email list.

That is great news! Glad to read E-Bay finally did something about her/them!

Leon, if you had a hand in this, thank you!

I just looked at some of the cards on the auction site. I did notice that a few are listed as Authentic and the description says that the card measures small.

Nice work! Pretty much ties that up then.

I suppose starting up an Auction house gets around those pesky issues of Returns and Negative Feedback.

Great for putting cards in buyers' hands that look nothing like the doctored scans...
