Who trims a 55 Common? Seriously? wow....... a guy doesn't even look for a trim on these.....

It might not be trimmed Lonnie. I agree with what someone else said about maybe inexperienced graders. If certain cards have a certain "look" about them, they might automatically assumed it's trimmed, even though it came from the factory that way (like the little flare out on a corner that some people call a "bat wing")

ATTENTION PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!! It has been brought to my attention that SOME JERK is adding certs to their set registry that are cards actually belong to other members!!

THE NERVE OF SOME PEOPLE!!!!!!

Easy to fix. I scan all my cards anyway. If somebody is pulling that crap with my cards I send an email to PSA with the scan and it’s fixed in a day or two. Usually this comes up because somebody fails to remove a card from their PC. I didn’t see any cards warranting being stolen like that though.

Of course people trim 1955 commons

Plenty of people out there trimming 1950's commons. Hell there are people out there that trim 1980's commons. When people can make money the will do shady things. it is not like a 9 or 10 1955 topps common is worthless. plenty of motivation for someone shady to trim the card in my honest opinion.

How about someone practicing on a few commons before fixing the 55 Clemente?

YEP - this one makes sense....

All submitters cards have officially been shipped out. They should be trickling back any day now. Please update the thread when you get yours. And if you are pleased with your grades, say so. I believe there are a lot of unhappy people in this sub, so any bright spot anyone has will be looked upon favorably.

rsdill2 03-21-2018 06:11 PM

Received mine, thanks again Bobby. Really appreciate you putting this together.

My favorite from this sub, cracked it out of this:

Oct Sub

Bobby
Got my T80 Millitary card with Lenox Back in the mail today.
PSA 3. I thought the card would grade a 4 or 5.
Oh Well!
Thanks for organizing this group sub.

Regards
John P

More should trickle in....nice bump on the Lasorda....going from SGC to PSA is a bump in itself monetarily....the half grade push should help when you decide to sell it. Lasorda is a legend.

Sorry to hear of those that didn't grade out well. I was very pleased with my (non-sport) cards. Exactly 100 Booker Tobacco Indians have been graded and I received a 7, only the second one from the entire series with none higher. And the gold bordered card at 6.5 is the highest of the series. 7 of the 13 cards submitted are the highest. Wanted to share my bright spot in this grouping. Thanks again Bobby!Attachment 309734

Received yesterday - Thanks Bobby...

On the 2 that PSA deemed "Trimmed"

The Common, that I noted earlier in this thread, shows absolutely no trace of trim under magnification and compares dead on when overlayed on multiple other examples of 55s.

The 2nd trim - shows no evidence of trim under magnification but does not compare dead on when overlayed. Very slight margin is visible but ever so slight - so is possible but not probable IMO

Anyone else questioning the "TRIM" designations on your submit?

I questioned some of mine. Rather than wait another 6 months, I am selling and moving on.

EPDGs

Had 15 EPDGs in this batch.

I will say that I was happy with this submission. 2 cards that I thought should grade higher and 5 or 6 that actually did grade higher than I expected.

So all in all, very happy. Thanks again Bobby.....looking forward to the next submission popping in October. ;)

Sorry for bad photos.....

Robert-Those two cards are trimmed and someone did a horrible job to boot.

And to Lonnie- Magnifying a card or laying a card on top of one another are not methods used to determine if a card has been trimmed. Knowing how to detect a consistent factory cut is how you determine if a card is trimmed, and that can be different from year to year and from issue to issue.

Just a suggestion to anyone who cannot tell if a raw card is trimmed or altered--pay a bit more and buy the card already graded and save yourself disappointment, time and frustration. Card may still be trimmed or altered but it is in a holder making it easier to sell down the road and less likely a chance you will lose money.

Thanks for the info. About 4 years ago I bought a nice raw '61 Topps, submitted it and it came back evid of trimming. It was the same size as other 61's but apparently the reason was as you stated.
That was my last raw card purchase. :)

I'll admit...I'm one of the worst at detecting that sort of stuff...unless it's obvious, then I'm your huckleberry. They came from a complete set that I won from Heritage. The money cards (Aaron, Banks, Kaline) all graded fine. I figured these would be fine as well. Heritage made no mention of the hack job and I sure can't tell.

Exactly! Good words for card newbies and vets.

Thanks Bobby! I received my cards yesterday - nicely packaged. I appreciate the hard work you put into this! I can't imagine the record keeping, packaging materials, etc. that you had to put in! It's appreciated!!!

toledo_mudhen 03-23-2018 12:08 PM

Actually - the "under magnification" is where I was looking for differences in edge characteristics -

The one that I state "overlays perfectly" - Im pretty positive that there is no way its a trim....

The other one maybe so -

Thanks Tony....the sending back of cards is the hardest part (for me, at least).....when they are raw, it's not so bad. When you are staring at 150+ slabs in the face, and of course PSA has them all mismatched in the box, that's when it gets to be no fun.

BleedinBlue 03-28-2018 08:38 PM

Got my cards

Was out of town for a few days but my cards were waiting for me when I got home. Thanks again Bobby for pulling this together. I’m in on the next one for a small batch. Looking forward to it.

And whats really hard is having to store it for months on end. And hope to god I don't misplace stuff.
