Some vacation pics that are not from the US.:)
EDIT: Per Franks request These pics are from Europe. Most I am sure are the Netherlands. I know the last pic was my ride and cabin during a stay in the Amsterdam Bos(forest). We used to get blasted beyond belief and ride the ICE trains all over Europe and get on and off whenever we decided. EuroRail passes are the best.:) I have 100's if not a few 1000 pictures I know are from Europe but no idea what country. |

I've been to Israel twice, in 1970 and in 1975. I probably have pictures somewhere but I would have to take my closet apart to find them.
I've been to many others, but I'm not sure the rules allow me to post more than one. |
Pete- looks like everyone is skunked on Ecuador, post up another!

Portugal to Tonga
7 Attachment(s)
Portugal is great. I hope you had a chance to visit Sintra. Next up, Net54 is off to Tonga. I had to leave Australia for a while for visa reasons, and thought about going to Fiji. Everyone I knew said that it's overrun with tourists. So my wife and I went to the next island group to the east.
Portugal first: a view of Lisbon, and some castles. Then Tonga: a wonderful beach, the view from an 8-seat plane, a banyan tree, and a path down to the ocean. |

Been to Tonga (Vava'u) and now on to Honduras:

I've been to Honduras, but found nothing there worthy of a picture on land, and I am not a diver.
I will add a few pictures from a new country Attachment 273956 A Golfer's Urinal typical of this country's humor (?) Frank, you're probably correct about Honduras, at least topside.

I thought we were still in Malaysia. Missed ray ray appropriately adding France after a week in the doldrums. Al is a different story though. Remember Denny adding a laundry list of countries including Hawaii (?) and being disqualified. Al has basically has done the same thing, except his ten countries are all in separate posts, are all correctly identified and all contain beautiful photos. The Board of Directors of this thread is going to give him a warning regarding the rules going forward, but has voted to add his ten country blitz to the list in post one. For those who may have been waiting for this ruling, we are now in Tahiti. |

Tico to Nico
Oh boy, I can jump right in! We're going a little north to NICARAGUA next.
Though I will violate the rules by not posting pictures because I've just moved, don't know where the scanner is, and have no idea how to post them anyway. In compensation, I will offer a story: Right after college a buddy of mine and I decided an extended surf trip to Central America would be a grand thing, and we purchased a 1969 Grumman Step Van, outfitted it with surf racks on the roof and a bed in back, and drove to Costa Rico from Charleston, SC...two and a half weeks of seat-of-the pants travelling. We stayed there 2 1/2 months, surfing every break, both east and west, and living in the van. When we decided Managua, where we had stopped for several days with a couple of Nicos we had met, was not for us (partially because we did not want to eat the beef testicle soup they were preparing that night) we beat a hasty path to the Costa border. Right before we hit customs and were waiting in line a high-ranking military officer approached us and asked for a ride across the border into a town in Costa Rica. Think full military uniform, epaulets, medals, etc. Our passenger seat at this time was a vinyl-covered blue-and-purple floral design that we had found discarded in Charleston and bolted in. If you've ever been to Central America and understand who wields power, you will understand we said "Of course, please hop in and take this place of honor on the vinyl seat!" Which he did. Needless to say it was one of the easiest border crossings I have ever experienced, just kind of waved on through when they looked at the man in the floral recliner. Tony |
Nicaraqua was the most chaotic border I've ever crossed. Absolute madhouse.
Since we're moving north, I'll offer up Guatemala. https://scontent-lax3-1.xx.fbcdn.net...12&oe=59DFC861https://scontent-lax3-1.xx.fbcdn.net...5a&oe=599C4743https://scontent-lax3-1.xx.fbcdn.net...c6&oe=59CCE22Dhttps://scontent-lax3-1.xx.fbcdn.net...95&oe=59D51E97 |
I am on thin ice with Frank and Anthony so will try to do this right. First, only because the Lance Corporal did not have access to his pics, here are a couple from Nicaragua ( first 3). Next Anthony's Guatemala ( 2nd 3), and then Cartegena Columbia ( last 3)

South America
Since we are getting close on South America, I want to add one. Did a Circle South America 80 day cruise two years ago. Only countries we did not hit were Bolivia and Paraguay, neither being on the coast. I will likely never make Bolivia ( I have settled for scenes from Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid), but did end up in Paraguay last year for my son's wedding in Asuncion. I do not recommend it as a tourist destination. If you look up the top 10 things to do there they are mostly in nearby countries like Brazil, Argentina, Chile or Peru. You will have to take my word on it, although I have a lot of expensive receipts from there. I can say it was the fastest Catholic wedding I have ever attended, 25 minutes

Thanks for jumping in there Raymond and for following the rules too :)
Following Raymod, here is another ( first 3) US ( Alaska and either Mt McKinley if you are from Ohio or Mt Denali if from anywhere else). Then a couple ( 2nd 3) from Paraguay since my last one had no actual place pics, and a new one ( last 3), French Guiana, more specifically Devil's Island http://i1267.photobucket.com/albums/...pspwp6bwnx.jpg http://i1267.photobucket.com/albums/...pshfoijutg.jpg http://i1267.photobucket.com/albums/...g?t=1498318110 |

Well, I've never been a world traveler...I let the rest of the family do that. What I do have is a collection of postcards that anyone would envy. Those same loved ones were always instructed to send me postcards...which they did religiously. My sole ventures out of the country were cruises in 1999 & 2000 - not many 'tame' photos from those trips. Besides, it took me quite a lot of work to get that condor to pose like that. - |
