No, no battle plan. Right now It's what catches my eye and is in my budget range. One OJ I did just snag is the humurous Nicol/Reilly (long and short) card which is one I've wanted for a while. I'll post a pic of it when it arrives. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk |

Improved picture of Claude Berry photo pickup
1 Attachment(s)
Here's a better picture of the Claude Berry photo I picked up earlier this week.
It's frame was cleaned, and the image is now protected behind museum glass. It's residing in a circa 1910 2-door oak bookcase. C46s are on the shelf above. Patrick |
outstanding

The Biel gets me down to 9 Series 7 cards to go. Thank you Tom for both additions. If anyone can help with a Series 7 card it would be much appreciated! Thank you great pickups everyone esp. like the signed cards.

Just got these in today. Thanks Jerry!
The Donovan is the only example I know of. I have also not been able to confirm it with a Nadja back, so this will work as a nice substitute. I am aware of only 2 Crawford's and this is by far the nicer of the 2. Crawford is also 1 of 2 HOFers I know exist with the red back. It is also a nice placeholder until I can find a Nadja for my set. http://i1065.photobucket.com/albums/...%20donovan.jpg http://i1065.photobucket.com/albums/...20crawford.jpg DJ |
Great card! Love the car in the back!

DJ, Congrats on the red Crofts, those are great cards. I almost went after the Donovan but decided to back off. I should have kept going, it went for a good price!
A couple T3s from the Raleigh show today... http://www.collectorfocus.com/images...7498/t3-dahlen http://www.collectorfocus.com/images...3-out-at-third |
Nice finds Dan! The fronts of those cards are fantastic. Appears your are getting quite a collection of T3's. Didn't even know there was a Raleigh show this weekend?

The T3s are all coming from the same dealer. They're slowly trickling out from a major collection, and apparently the guy is letting them go a couple at a time. They all have beautiful fronts and minor problems with the backs, usually just minor paper loss on the corners or a little bit of pencil. Here are some others I've picked up from him so far - http://www.collectorfocus.com/images...play-at-second http://www.collectorfocus.com/images...47257/t3-magee http://www.collectorfocus.com/images...7258/t3-tinker |

I had a good chunk of ebay bucks but I'm sure I still over paid as usual. LOL.

Wow, nice pickup Luis! I don't think you overpaid fwiw.

Doug-
Great Smoky Joe! Luis- I'm so glad that I'm not the only one who feels they overpay on at least some purchases. It's a sure sign of letting your emotions drive your goals, which is exactly what I do. Congrats to you both! Keep it up, -Raymond . |
Thanks Luke and Raymond.
And Raymond, I feel I overpay on most of my purchases. But as long as I think they are cool I'm ok with it........I think? |

Sorry to bring the January pickup thread back to the top,
but late December and all of January were pretty big for my collection, as I picked up numbers 298, 299, and number 300 in the rebuilt Howe McCormick collection.
Bryan let me know about the Chase that showed up on eBay in late November. He even placed a bid on it, just to make sure it didn't disappear before I had a chance to get in touch with the seller. Being so close to Christmas, my wife purchased the card, but I had to wait until December 25 to get to open it and add it to the collection. But conversations with the owner were very interesting. Then, in mid-January, David mentioned in an old thread that he had found the Miller in his collection, and was willing to part with it. That left me one short of what I considered a milestone for the collection. Enter Dante, the gentleman who had the Chase. Don't know all the details, as he is very interesting to share stories with, but he is currently building his fifth complete t206 collection, with the first one started in the early 70s. He builds them, completes them, holds on to them for a short time, then sells. Had sold a compete set in Mastro back in 2006 that he says he knows had many of Howe's cards (I quizzed him a bit about that, as I know of the complete collection back in 2008 that did, but can't find any mention of a set in 2006 that did). Anyway, he looked through the collection he is currently building and found one more, the Irv Young, making it number 300 in the rebuilt collection. Thanks to so many for your help with keeping this strange little (or what started out as little) project going. While the rate at which they show up has slowed, 28 new examples have shown up in the last 22 months. And there are still the 30 I know exist, have seen scans of, but aren't in the collection. Guessing most of them never will be. But it has been an adventure. Thanks to all. As for the Helmars, I only have 23 remaining of the 180 total! Here are my pick-ups from late December/early January thanks to Net54 members who were willing to help me out: http://photos.imageevent.com/derekgr...1%20Donlin.jpghttp://photos.imageevent.com/derekgr...%20Scanlan.jpghttp://photos.imageevent.com/derekgr...son%20Owen.jpg Oh, and Ed, I still think your pursuit of the rebuilt Howe McCormick stamp collection is the unofficial set focus of the entire Net54 community. It's by far the most interesting endeavor! |
