Wow!!! That card looks great. Congrats on landing a sweet Aaron card. No way that is a PSA 6 according to my grading scale.

Another lowered graded card that looks better than my higher graded one.(Below) It really makes me wonder at times if they really know what they are doing over at PSA?

Nice P/U's guys!

Aaron's RC has been high on my want list now for a while, but I doubt I will ever get one at this point?

DBesse27 10-19-2016 09:40 PM

Got this Bill Lee card back in the last week for my 1974 Topps Red Sox team set. Asked for him to sign it Bill "Spaceman" Lee and he did. Happy with how this turned out.

http://i1199.photobucket.com/albums/...Lee%20auto.jpg

This now makes 7 autos in my team set: Carbo, Tiant, Petrocelli, Tommy Harper, Cecil Cooper, Aparicio and Lee. Sending cards by the end of the year to signings by Cepeda, Yaz and Diego Segui.

Hot Springs Bathers 10-20-2016 06:34 AM

Dan- I saw the new documentary/movie "Spaceman" at the Hall of Fame Film Festival a couple of weeks ago. While it is R rated it is very well done. Leaves you shaking your head when it is over. Amazing talent, just never had all the bolts tight.

...turned these in at the recent Valley Forge/Fort Washington show as part of the 'free grading for joining' special deal

..what ever happened to PSA's "half-grades" ? All fifteen cards came back with straight solid number grades....what are the odds of that ??

...I was actually expecting two "PSA 9" grades out of the fifteen subs but I guess I missed something somewhere..

..

Nice cards. If you check PSA pop reports half grades are pretty rare. This is a total guess, but I would put the odds of all 15 cards coming back with no half grades at about 2 to 1, a 50% chance. It wouldn't surprise me though if that percentage was even higher.

CharleyBrown 10-21-2016 05:35 PM

Thanks, and very nice pickup as well. Jackie has a lot of great cards.

another postwar card added this month that I've wanted for quite a while...

Harliduck 10-22-2016 08:05 PM

An inadvertent by product of set collecting is the fact you end up with all the base Topps cards of HOF and regular players. As I close in on my latest 1965 set, I am completing base player sets. This Pete Rose marks the first time I have ever had all the Topps Base cards for him. Kinda cool...

Harliduck 10-28-2016 12:49 AM

Down to only 13 for the 61 Topps set with this purchase...Stan the Man will be freed in a couple days...I am not one who is over concerned with centering, but having looked for just the right card and deal for Stan, it's pretty hard to find this card as centered as this one is, especially for the price I won it for. For whatever reason, this card was hard to obtain...lots of garbage out there. Maybe it's just me...anyhow, getting this one felt good.

Thanks. :)

I am currently sitting at 196 cards which consist of 138 lower numbered cards (1 to 310) and 58 High number cards (311 to 407)
I have purchased 84 "52 Topps" cards since I joined the site back in January.

I looked and looked, Ray and finally noticed some small spider lines on the back mixed in with the writing.
The front, using a lighted magnifying glass, I can't see anything.
I assume, because the card has them somewhere, that's what warrants the grade?
Either way, as I have seen worse cards graded higher, this one was graded tough imo.

It was a cheap p/u nonetheless and I would have no problem purchasing cards graded like this any day of the week! :)

Nice cards Ray!

I love the '69 pitching leaders card! So unique!!!

DBesse27 10-30-2016 11:28 AM

I too love the pitching leaders. I've said ad nauseum that I love vintage league leaders cards with 3-4 HOFers. What's even better? When they all sign it! Awesome card!!

clydepepper 10-30-2016 01:21 PM

Thanks Lou & Dan

thought I overpaid for the leaders card (for some reason, I used a straight bid instead of a max bid...what a brain fart!)

I went after the Santo card in hopes that some Karma would be sparked...but, right now, down 3-1...might have to do it again...wait for it...NEXT YEAR.
