I was lucky enough to get one from a local card shop (in my net 54 sig) along with some other cards. I was lucky the dealer only deals in hockey or I might have paid a lot more for the lot. Got these the other night from another E-Bay auction. They are raw and somewhat rough, but they were affordable and I needed/wanted them. :) |

Most corners are dinged, and with my exceptional scanning skills, I have managed to cut a few of them out so the pics actually make them look better than they are. :D Thanks. :) |

Nice P/U's!

Nice looking Mays, Jerry, and John, that mantle is a steal!

Thanks for the comments guys. I can't stop staring at it. Easily one of my favorite cards I've owned.
|
That is the most beautiful 3.5 I have ever seen! Congrats on the pickup!
Also digging that 59 Kaline Baseball Thrills. I am not a huge fan of subsets, but I always loved this one. In the early 80s, the Musial one was in a local shop and I was in love with it. Paid $7.50 after saving up allowances for awhile. I probably got ripped off given it has a pinhole in it, but man I love that card. Edit: I just looked and you can get the Musial's pretty cheap on Ebay for a beater. Don't care; wouldnt change the childhood experience of owning that beautiful card for the world! "Oh, you have a 1989 Upper Deck Jerome Walton!?! That's cool. Have I showed you my '59 Musial?" I may need to go and buy the Kaline now..... |
56 Mantle

Thanks Cooptown!
It's been a good week. Just got this in today. Have always loved the 56 Topps Mantle with the duel head and action shot. |
Nothing fancy, just filling in some more gaps in my 1969 set, but that 1971 card is the last card I need to finish the 1971 set. 1971-1980 are complete, but 71 is the roughest set I have and will be the first to get upgraded once I finish 1969 and 1970 off.

This is my kind of card - presents much better than EX. Accurately graded, as there is the tiniest of indentations on the top right corner
Love the centering Attachment 245833 |
Neal, you scored on that Mantle!

Sweet 59 Mantle!
Time to start the set now that you got the big one in house!
|
Neal - I don't know how you could possibly live with that indentation! I've got a really nice mid grade Don Mossi to trade you for that crappy Mantle.
How bout it? Seriously; That cards a beauty. Well done. RayB |
Haven't posted in a while but just picked up a few new additions to the Mantle PC:
http://i1258.photobucket.com/albums/...psfkag2l3s.png Grabbed this one from MattyC. Just an unbelievable image on this and some real powerful centering. This is the one early Mantle card that was still attainable in a higher grade for me and was just floored by how sharp this one was in person. http://i1258.photobucket.com/albums/...pskaqacm12.jpg Another MattyC pick up. Every time I visit I end up spending more at his house than I do at the National. Just another card with insane image quality and centering. This card has always been a personal favorite of mine. http://i1258.photobucket.com/albums/...pstrdojf2f.jpg A small, erased pencil mark about 1/8" long on the back of the card is the reason for the qualifier. I am not one for qualifiers but was struck by the rather decent centering and clean image. Also was super cheap! I also snagged a sweet 54 Bowman Mantle in PSA 6 from Matt but haven't scanned it just yet. |
Nice cards Greg!

Over 60 1962 Topps Venezuelan cards including #199 & #200 and a few HOFers. Pretty rough condition but putting together and upgrading both raw and graded sets.

Wow! Love all the stuff I am seeing: Williams, Mantle, Clemente, Koufax, etc.! Then here I come with my pitiful little '65 Topps commons as I plug away at that set.

I haven't received them yet, but I am pretty stoked to be adding these cards to my 52 Topps collection.
I might have overpaid for the Monty Irvin card, but after numerous bids/acquisition attempts, I can finally say I won/own one!:) Always wanted a Lopat as well, but surprisingly, it was difficult to acquire in my price range:confused: (Is that a tough card?) The Cliff Fannin is an upgrade to the one I own in my Flickr album below. (Figured it was the least I could considering how I obtained my cards) |
Very nice! I would love to build this set, but #311 says otherwise.

I enjoy picking up what I can when I can and adding to what I already have, but I know someday, due to those high value cards, my collecting of 52 Topps will likely come to an end, unfortunately. Quote:

Todd, I've always loved that 64T NL HR leaders card with the 4 HOFers

Was such a great event with Hank Aaron. Sat about 10 feet from him the whole time. Huge props to the Brewers Community Foundation and Hank's Chasing the Dream Foundation.

Picked this one up from a fellow board member. I had a PSA 4 awhile back but gave it up in a trade for a Magie. It's been tough trying to replace it but prices have been silly. Funny thing is that what I paid for this "1" was about the price I paid for my "4" six years ago.

My first pickup in a long time. Have been wanting this card for a couple years...ended up getting the full team set along with it.

lol - not a letdown at all! four solid cards!
the Mick is stupendous! |
Another pickup from the b/s/t section. Trying to put together a low grade 53 set. At about 1/3 so far but have already picked up all the high dollar cards. Very happy with this one and got it at a good price.
http://i765.photobucket.com/albums/x...pszp7gy8t1.jpg |
Nothing to break the price guide, but here are two solid Clementes that arrived today. The regular issue card - if it is not NM, it is close. Always been one of my favorite cards, and for whatever reason I have never had another one since trading away the first one I had as a kid when I was probably 12. Love the reflective looking shot of Roberto just looking at the ball. Kind of poignant - he had no way of knowing what was in store for him only months after this card was issued. Long live the great one!http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...7afc9559c7.png
