nice bunch of cards there.... I like some less collected sets such as E90-2... especially with their blue lettering.

Number 285 is a bit of a biggie for me

Not that the card is rare, or anything like that, but since it is a HoFer, and even then a higher-tiered HoFer, I don't often get a chance to try and get these back with the others.

But sometimes, thanks to people like John, Joe, Scott and in this case, the guys at Clairmont Sports Cards, I've been able to work out payment plans where they hold the card while I slowly pay it off, then send it on.

This arrived in the mail today. Again, thanks to Dave, Bake and Lee at Clairmont Sports Cards, and to everyone else who has helped reunite all these cards.

<a href="http://s150.photobucket.com/user/T206ster/media/285%20Young_zps7uwqoqul.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s81/T206ster/285%20Young_zps7uwqoqul.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 285 Young_zps7uwqoqul.jpg"/></a>

(If I left anyone out who has helped in this way, sincerest apologies)

After not posting any photos in a while, I was pretty pleased with this month so I feel like it today. ;)

Grabbed a few good looking low grade examples to add to the man cave -

I also guiltily admit to grabbing a worthless one that has made numerous thread appearances on this site as I wanted it when it was in a lot in the fall Heritage auction. Sometimes you just got to smile...

My newest acquisition !! I have been hunting this card down for several years now and finally found one with the eye appeal I like. I don't believe this card is any more rare than others from the set but it must be a very special card for collectors as you hardly ever see nice ones come to the market.

How common are color shifts on CJs? This is the only one I've ever seen granted I'm not a CJ collector.

Nice cards!!

Got these two in the mail yesterday. Now I need 4 more confirmed backs to complete the run. I am not too optimistic that it will be completed, at least not for a while.

Well, most of the T205s (with the exception of the first four) came from one auction lot, so instead of a busy month, I suppose I should have said I had a "voluminous" month!

Vintagecatcher 02-18-2016 08:37 PM

Cracker Jack color shift

Hi Steven,

A few years back a bunch of these 1915 Cracker Jacks were auctioned off on eBay. I had never seen any printing errors on cracker jacks before until this group appeared on eBay. Recently, an eBay dealer posted 3-4 cracker jacks with this registration shift issue. Surprisingly they didn't get much attention this time and I grabbed the Wally Schang for my catcher collection.

Got a submission back from PSA. I had actually forgotten about a few of the cards, so it was like opening a Christmas present :D

Here are a few and a couple from earlier this month.

Jobu 02-19-2016 08:10 AM

Cool cards, the Schang too.

I wonder if there is a case to get them reholdered without the MC. They aren't really MC, it just looks that way due to the misregistration, something which has nothing to do with the cut. You can even see a slightly lighter red area on the right where the border is underneath the single layer of red.

That is complete BS PSA put a qualifier on those.

The backs are perfectly centered on these cards, so should not be called MC. Just a shift on the front printing. I also have two others.

I just got these Meyers with SC 350-460, factory 25 backs. So, when checking the population reports, I can only find one of these graded (since PSA didn't identify backs for a while, and SGC doesn't identify factory numbers, I know this is skewed). Is this really that scarce of a card? Especially when I found two on the same day. I'm just curious.

Luke 02-19-2016 03:21 PM

Factory 25 is more scarce than 42 or 30, but Meyers is probably not scarce with any of those backs. I care about the different SC factories and I enjoy keeping track of them, but it seems like 99% of t206 collectors don't care.

I put a run of Meyers backs together about 5 or 6 years ago and the fac. 25 was the toughest of the more common backs to find.

It has been at least two years since I've been able to cross off another card on the Tommy Bridges master checklist. This is one of two cards I haven't even seen for sale since I returned to the hobby a decade ago. Won it with a lone bid of $20. My nuclear bid was more than 10x that amount. Sometimes it is great to collect an obscure player.

Thanks Eric. I've found the blue background E98s to be far and away the toughest color variation with the hordes of reds and greens dropping in to the market with the Black Swamp Find. Oranges can be difficult too, but not as bad as the blues. For some strange reason the blues are also the hardest to find in really nice condition. I have no idea why....

Scott,

Thank you and sorry for the delay in getting back with you. I do not know when the photo was taken or if it is Bris Lord on the far left. I guess he borrowed one of the jackets from the other team because from the waist down the guy on the far left has the same uniform as Collins.

Cheating a bit on this one,

as I just won it yesterday afternoon, and don't have it in hand yet, but don't ever recall being able to post three times in one month (and the first being on the first, and the last being on the last). Thanks to Bryan, Jerry, Ben, Erick, Patrick and Ed for the heads-up on this one. Becomes #287 in the rebuilt collection.

Bryan had asked how quickly the cards were showing up now. Looking back, from March 4 of last year to today, I've been able to get 15, or one page in the binder. If things keep at that rate, I figure I should be at number 300 right around Christmas.
