+1 I guess He likes Ty Cobb??
Would you mind posting each card/ front & Back ---make us a list of those GEMS!!!! |
We've talked about a Titus hoarder, but this is a serious hoard.
|
A virtual cornfield of Cobbs
For a non-Titus hoarder, nice stash!
A question...do you have something against the Cobb Bat on card? Only see one, which might just indicate a certain lack of interest? Brian |

Thanks David!
Great, great piece. |
Very cool to see all those portraits laid out like that, rareback!

Great Cobbs everyone!
I at one time started a back run of red Cobbs and stopped at 10. What was I thinking, that's the toughest one to pick so I ended up selling all of them. But I did keep my green Cobb; only because my wife bought it for me for Christmas like 4 years ago. I will never part with it, well you all know why...

I have posted this a few times over the last couple years... but this thread seems like a good spot for it one more time :)
According to my research.. there are a total of 30 possible backs for the red cobb portrait.. The ones missing from the below picture include the T213 Type 3 with Overprint (only 1 known).. the T214 Victory (only 2 or 3 known).. and the Cobb Back (10-12 known) Lots of toughies shown below.. including the Sov460, AB350, Lenox, RH, Blank, Drum (1 of 3), BL460 (1 of 1) http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/g...ps9pxjhtkd.jpg |

Amazing cards and items posted so far! My contribution is below. Three photos (my favorite Cobbs) and a notebook cut card that I did not see posted yet.

Hard to post my Cobbs following all the ones already shown, not the prettiest, nor the rarest. But I can say that I share my birthday with Mr. Tyrus Raymond Cobb.

Jamie, I never get tired of seeing your Cobb run. Those last few backs are insane. |

Does anyone think it's weird that I'm obsessed with a player who died almost 20 years before I was born???
I'm hoarding Cobbs but my 1914 Cracker Jack and T3 are my favorites. |

Loving me some more here---not to mention those 33 Goudeys of Ruths, and a Gehrig and some Ted Williams and of course the Mick 51 peeking over on the right side. The on the left side what seems to be some t206s with a Nolan ryan and maybe a 55 koufax?
Love to see those as well!!! I been playing with the idea of getting the blue pastel Cobb to go with my 4 Cobb run i'm pursuing. Nice head shot and blue background. I doubt i ever get a CJ Cobb tho. Nice bold red color it has. |

I have had a hankering to buy a Cobb for 5 months now. Finally splurged on my first. It's someone else's until it gets in my hand, but I'm excited! It's in a postal vehicle somewhere. Decided on the 1921 exhibit that I can display next to my '21 Speaker exhibit. My wife is making me rob Peter to pay Paul in order to finance it. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...9ec051e5a8.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...b389641124.jpg

I got one of these when i was a little kid. I had no idea what it was but I knew Cobb was a legend and it was my first card of him. It was pretty rough so I replaced it years later. Two more from my childhood: https://photos.imageevent.com/exhibi...ing%20Cobb.jpg https://photos.imageevent.com/exhibi...ers%20Cobb.jpg These were how i learned baseball history. |

Love that fat border red, Dean!
|
Thanks Sam! I know I've mentioned this before, but it took me a very long time find a red Cobb that was centered with a deep red background and a focused image. The big borders were icing on the cake. ;)

Wow Jeff, great display. Jamie, I agree, if I was going to have one Cobb, a Red Portrait with Black Lenox back is high on that list; great card Chris.
