Collecting players that played for Columbus in 1883-1884 and 1889-1891. Needed a reason to buy more OJs. (Supper addicted to the cards)

Sean,

Thank you. I will notify them of the Marberry and the Altrock/Schacht cards.

Jeff, nice first OJ at a great price. The 1887 Brooklyn cards are kind of neat due to being actual outdoor shots.

Steven, nice N173 of Buckenberger, a great cabinet for your collection. Are you now collecting outside of Ohio teams (based on your other N172 pick-ups)?

Joe, this is one of the many reasons I love this forum, I am always learning something new. I'm almost embarrassed to say, I had no idea that all the 87 Brooklyn cards were taken outdoors. That is a great tidbit to know. It will allow me to enjoy that card even more, if possible! Thank you for sharing!

Steven, nice OJ pickups, I hope I'm not getting an OJ bug. I can't afford it!

Thanks for posting. Even without the baseball reference that is one great and humorous piece of Americana.

Got this one dirt cheap--not something I'd usually grab as an "A" but one of my favorite t205s... Not expert on SGC rejection codes--I thought just "C" for color added so not sure what CLI means...156 refers to three different corners or sides...I guess... any idea about CLI ? Or maybe that's just the sellers code, most likely....

My Johnson may not be spectacular, but it does what I need it to.

Thanks, Chris, for a great transaction.

So does my Crawford and Walsh! Anyone seen this stamp before? Looks like some kind of game?

Took off the afternoon to sign for this one today. Diamond-cut with WST on reverse silhouetting Cobb's head. I know this isn't scrap because of the diamond-cut but would this be considered a "freak", an oddity, or otherwise? Doesn't matter too much, I can't put the thing down either way! Would love get some feedback from some T206 experts or anyone else who cares to chime in on this one!

Team Issue 1933 ? Detroit Tigers

http://imagehost.vendio.com/a/204295...RSTEAM_NEW.JPG

...These are the same size as the 1935-1936-1937 Fine Pens/Wide Pens photo-cards , but not glossy and on much thicker stock , almost the same as the exhibits' , and blank backed . Sold for ten cents for an envelope of a set of ten different players. These four were in the original envelope which was noted as " Set No. 2 "---being inside the original envelope all these years kept them in really decent condition --- Centering is all over the place . I've never seen any of these particular poses in other sets-- I believe this would be Gehringer's rookie year ?? How about Bridges ?? Any help from Tigers historians would be appreciated .

... I've already posted the"Mickey Cochrane Manager '33 " card from this set in ''Follow The Picture'' if anyone wants to see that one. That's a great pose too.

Mike,

The set is referred to as the 1934 Newton Annis Furs. Here is another example:

vintagehofrookies 07-16-2015 10:13 PM

Mike,
it would be Greenberg's Rookie year but Gehringer's was 1926

I was looking for a good quality for one at the right price for years. Sadly I should have just pulled the trigger a long time ago because prices have gone up.

DeanH3 07-17-2015 01:02 PM

Despite the issues, the front/back combo was just too intriguing to me. Hey I guess it's unigue?? How many other Lajoie Hindu's have the trifecta of stamping, writing and paper loss! :D

Thanks Mike. The card actually presents a little better in hand. My first Hindu. I'm afraid I'm catching the T206 back disease. :)

Tony,

Thanks, now I have to find a blank backed. I wonder if there is an auction somewhere with one in it......?

Brian,

Love that Weaver. His cards are so hard to get, he drives me crazy as a PCL nut. I have his Obak, but need (and I mean need) two more types (again, I wonder if there might be an auction or two). And speaking of being a PCL nut,

Nice pick up RC!
