Steve, so sorry to hear about the loss of your son James. May his memory be eternal. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

I come on this forum to read about cardboard, and instead I learn that the world is full of caring, thoughtful people.

Steve, your son has given the gift of life to others and you have shared that gift with us.

May your memories of your son provide you with some amount of solace during this incredibly difficult time.

Sorry to bring the real world into this wonderful forum that has brought me some respite from the medical issues that my family has gone through these past few years with my son. Yesterday, at 12:30 pm, we lost our sweet James. We are sure that his soul has passed to a more gentle and beautiful place. Through his wish to be an organ donor, his strength and generosity has given the gift of precious time back to three people. His donation will allow these recipients to add another candle to their birthday cake, be there to walk their daughter down the aisle, see their son's first homerun or to simply to feel the sun on their face for one more amazing day. I don't think I'll be back on the board for awhile, but please know that so many of your posts and messages made me smile over the years.

Your friend,

Steve

Very sorry for your loss. Hopefully, you can take at least some comfort in knowing that his decision to be an organ donor is helping other people. I have an ACL in my left leg that came from someone else after I tore mine in 2011. Without that, I would never be able to have any kind of normal functionality of my leg.

Steve

I cannot imagine....I pray for peace. I know coming as close as I did almost losing my daughter pales in comparison and thinking I could not survive that, I cannot imagine your pain. I pray for peace and love that this world cannot give you. I pray you to find comfort some way. May you see your son in this world every way in a loving and positive way.

Steve,

So terribly sorry to hear of your loss. One of life's most tragic moments is when a parent has to bury a child. It is something that should never happen. Our thoughts are with you and your family.

So sorry to hear about this, Steve. I was in a state of shock when I first read this thread and my heart really sank...I couldn't begin to imagine what you're going through. I'll be praying for you and your family...God bless

Steve- What a beautiful post in a sad time. I lost a daughter many years ago, as you mentioned remember the smiles and the warm times.

Maddog 06-10-2015 06:42 AM

There really are no words for this kind of tragedy.
Steve, my deepest sympathies to you and your family.
The one consolation is that your son's selfless gift earned him a special place in heaven.

ls7plus 06-10-2015 01:33 PM

Steve, he IS in a better place. May God and the passage of time heal your hurt.

May blessings follow you all the days of your life,

Larry

Steve, I didn't see my post after submitting it, and think it important enough to post once more--he IS in a better place--my faith guarantees this is so. May God heal your hurt and know this: you WILL see him again, when it matters, and our time here is short as we travel down eternity's road.

May God's blessings follow you all the days of your life!

Larry

Steve,
I am so sorry to hear you lost your son. You and your family have my sincerest condolences. I cannot imagine the emotions of losing a child, but it appears that his life touched your family and others in a very special way.

In the end, I think that is the true measure of a life. Did we leave this world a better place for our being in it? It certainly appears that he did make this place better. I am sure he is in a better place waiting on your arrival at some point in the future, hopefully distant.
Best,
Mark

This hits home for any parent I did already post but I saw someone else suggested setting up a fund to contribute in James's memory.

I wouldn't be able to contribute much but I would contribute something. I think that it is a great idea. If anyone is going to set one up and with Steve and his family's approval please let me know.

Thank you Josh and thank you all again for your kind words. Your thoughts and prayers mean more than you all know. Below is a portion of Jimmy's obituary. United We SK8 is an amazing program that teaches special needs children to skate and allows them to be part of a team. Most of the kids in the program are under the age of 8. The coaches all took Jim under their wings and made him an honorary "assistant coach". He was so proud to be able to go out on the ice and help the little kids navigate their way around the rink. Every Sunday, he'd tell everyone that he had to go to work and help his teammates. Please don't feel pressured to donate, again your thoughts and prayers have given such comfort to me and my family. Thank you again and God bless you all. This is an amazing community that we have here on Net54.

Jimmy was a proud assistant coach for the Blackstone Valley Bulldogs Hockey Team, Hopedale.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Jimmy's memory to United We Sk8, 61 Northbridge Rd., Mendon, MA 01756. (gofund.me/4zmax4).

Steve - I just read about your son's passing, you and your family have my most sincere condolences. He did a great thing with the organ donations, that is very selfless and is to be admired. Your other son did a tremendous job of expressing his love for his brother. Take care, RC

Steve--

I've been away from the Board since Tues & just now saw your post. I'm totally devastated to hear this about your son.

You know I'm just down the road & if there is anything I can do in any small way, please prevail upon me.

Please accept my since condolences to you & your loving family.

Your friend,
Fred

Steve- I was so moved by your son's tribute to his brother. I hope that all board members read it and, if they have not already, become organ donors.

Pay it Forward
