wazoo 04-11-2015 10:01 PM

Bumpity bump. Coming to an end soon.

Joshu

Sorry, I just read this thread for first time and just voted.

I agree with others, I like your spirit for your age. As you, I dont believe
ever in excuses.

My father is an electrical engineer and being an immigrant, he worked during the day time and went to school at night for years to get his degree in the 1960's. He showed me nothing but work ethic. I continue as him(though in a different field)

Good luck to you.

smotan_02 04-12-2015 01:51 AM

Josh,
Just saw this for the first time and voted. Wish I could have seen it earlier.

Incredible essay. At my college, all the freshman men were required to take a boxing class. After the first day of class, the instructor said to us. This class will probably teach you enough to get your @$$ kicked in a real street brawl; but what it will do is teach you to take a hard punch right in the face, shake it off, and then come back with more intensity." Even as a 18 year old, that lesson has stuck with me for life.

You'll forever appreciate the fact that you were able to learn that lesson sooner than your peers.

wazoo 04-12-2015 08:34 AM

Great stories both of you! Thank you for sharing and voting. I always enjoy hearing a new story and learning more life lessons.

As someone putting the deposit on a 4 yr degree today (for my daughter) I know it's not cheap to go to a good college. Good luck Wazoo!!

And I copied your first post below so folks looking at the thread can easily click the link included and find you. Once the first vote is placed the subsequent ones take about 10-15 seconds.....

Hello everyone!

Hope all is well. As many of you know, I will be heading off to college at the end of this year. This is a very exciting time in my life. I have been accepted to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Rochester Institute of Technology, Clarkson University, the University of Vermont, and a couple others in pursuit of a degree in civil engineering. This is a great undertaking and I have made it my goal to walk out of college with as little debt as possible. Unfortunately, one cannot escape engineering school without paying $60,000+ a year. Even with merit and financial aid, the debt will greatly burden me. I have entered a scholarship contest which is located within the New England area. It is known as the Hood Sportsmanship Scholarship. I am posting this to the board because I would greatly appreciate if everyone voted for me for this scholarship. It would open many more doors. All you need to do is click Vermont, Mount Saint Joseph Academy (my school), and Joshua Wasilewski. Then you can read my essay about sportsmanship and cast a vote if you choose to do so. Once you submit the vote, please check your email/spam and click on the link in the email it sends you to confirm the vote. After you confirm the email, you can vote daily without having to reconfirm your email address. I do not expect individuals to vote every day, but the more I receive, the better chance I have of winning this scholarship. "Individuals may vote from 9:00 a.m. EDT on March 23, 2015 through 3:00 p.m. EDT on April 24, 2015 (the “Voting Phase”)." I really appreciate all the hope and the supportive community of Net54.

Thank you once again,

Joshua.

I'm praying. Fortunately Vermont isn't that large of a state and I've been diligent, as well as many other individuals, with daily voting. I appreciate this support.

I don't tweet but I just voted. And I would rather place a vote for Wazoo than most politicians.

(note ambiguity in order to not get into a political debate)

Of course ;) It'll be the Wazoo Cards 4 Me Fund.

wazoo 05-15-2015 08:25 PM

Well guys, I want to thank you so much for being so diligent with voting for me every day. I am sad to say that I let you guys down :(. I was selected as a finalist out of the state of Vermont. There were 10 finalists. We had our interviews and waited. I thought mine went very well. I thought they would be impressed by my strong community involvement, rank of class Valedictorian, and my strong commitment to my varsity/American Legion baseball teams. It's very disappointing to say I was not selected as the winner. We put a lot of effort into this, voting every day, and I really believed that I was a solid candidate for this scholarship. Although this may be a disappointment, I am still proud to say I pitched my first varsity no hitter last night. 11 punch outs. Once again, I appreciate all the help that I received and I am so thankful that Leon let me post this to the board. You guys are the best. God bless.

Best regards,
Joshua Wasilewski

Luke 05-15-2015 08:32 PM

Don't let it get you down. Keep up the good work. Congrats on the no-no! That's awesome!

gregr2 05-15-2015 08:45 PM

You did a great job and you are committed, that is something to be proud of Josh. You are going to do very well in life! Also nice job on the no-no last night!

pariah1107 05-15-2015 08:49 PM

You were the undisputed winner on net54! Obviously another electoral college snafu. Congratulations on the no-no!

Bestdj777 05-15-2015 09:33 PM

Congratulations on getting that far! I know it seems disappointing, but there will be other scholarships and you will find a way to cover the loans. You seem incredibly bright and driven and are going to do very well in school. So, try not to let it get you down.

Leon 05-15-2015 09:45 PM

Congrats on the no hitter Waz....that is awesome. Sorry to hear about the scholarship but we tried. Good luck with everything.

freakhappy 05-18-2015 12:43 AM

You'll always be a winner in my heart, Waz...always! Congrats on the no-no...what video game was it on? MLB The Show or Baseball Stars? ;)
