Would like to get really close to finishing up some sets:

T206 Tolstoi Backs - Need 77 more confirmed cards
E91A - 27/33 (Some of these seem impossible)
1933 Goudey - 230/240 (Would like to get my first Ruth)
1934 Goudey - 80/96
1936 Goudey - 14/25
1939-46 Salutation Exhibits - 76/83

I just hit 460 T206s in SGC50 or better today.

My goal for 2014 is to hit the 500 mark in SGC50 or better.

I only have 18 "commons" to go and only 8 Southern Leaguers to go, so that means I have quite a few HOFers to add.

Once you hit the 450 mark, it gets difficult and expensive, especially since I have a minimum grade of SGC50 to shoot for.

1. Continue to sell off my modern collection (already sold off about half of it) and try real hard to stop buying that stuff - except for an occasional Pirate.

2. Double my T206 set (currently at 75) to 150. Including getting an AB back and either a Wojo Hands at Chest or Matty White Cap.

3. Triple my E121 set (just started and currently at 10) to 30 including getting at least 5 HOFers.

4. Add at least 10 new/different Pirate Pre-War Types.

5. Spend just the right amount of money on that stuff so that my wife does not file for divorce (I can get away with slightly more than she spends on shoes....that's our deal).

Oh yeah.....one more - attend the National in Cleveland and meet some of you guys.

jason, that's an impressive list of goals you got there...and maybe it's a good thing that your wife spends money on shoes, so it gives you two a nice balance :D

Phil...that's going to be one impressive set when you get done with it! Make sure you share when you get it completed :)

As for me...

1. Finish my T201 set...only need 8, so it should be done within a few months if the right ones come along

2. No definitive number on the amount of T206's I want to accumulate for the year, but I'd say on average, close to one per week...so we'll say 40...that will get me over the 200 mark.

3. Grab anything that really gets my attention...could be anything. I collect a wide array of cards, so I have to keep it somewhat open and not restrict myself or I'll go nuts

4. Keep seeing everyone's beautiful pieces...this will go as scheduled as long as everyone keeps posting their gems...love looking at everyone's collection here on Net54...most recently, Steven's CJ set...pure beauty!

Buy high & sell low :)

Goals

2013 - added to my collection of cards that were produced in Louisiana.

Made it to the 50 card mark on T213-2's, added 1920 and 1921 Holsum, added Mino and 1917 Weil Baking. Completed all 3 Kotton backs.

2014 - get the T213-2 collection to the half way point. Try to pick up a low grade T211 and Tango Eggs and T215-2. See if I might get lucky and turn up a cheap Virginia Extra or Mothers Bread or Pirate.

And, as always, try to purchase modern collections to flip so I can use the profits to buy more items for my personal collection.

I'm going to try not to be influenced by this forum and keep my T206 collection at 1 ;) (Joseph Patrick Moran of the Cubs). I would like to pick up a seat from either the Polo Grounds or Ebbetts Field though, however it probably won't happen.

I went through what people had planned for this year. I have to say some very tough goals but should be a good year. Happy new year and best of luck n your goals.

Since I collect pre-war, vintage and modern, it's going to be hard to reach all my goals. But I like to set the bar high to push myself. So here are my lofty (for me, anyways) goals for 2014.

Pre-war: The 1934 Goudey #37 Lou Gehrig is at the top of my want list. Before the clock strikes midnight on December 31st next year, I will own this card. I saw Wonka's, and just fell in love with it. Mine won't be as nice, but a variety of a '34 Gehrig will sit in my SDP soon. Other cards I would really like to add: A T205 Christy Mathewson, a T202 Cobb Steals Third, '33 Goudey Al Simmons, 1915 Cracker Jack Walter Johnson, '33 Goudey Rogers Hornsby. A '33 Goudey Babe Ruth will be in 2015.

Of course, my focus will be on the T206 set. I plan on adding my first Ty Cobb (bat off shoulder), as well as a Matty dark cap, Lajoie with bat, an Eddie Collins (still looking for that one that wows me), an Addie Joss portrait, a Hal Chase with pink background, and I'm looking to upgrade my Walter Johnson to a PSA 4 and cross it over to SGC. That's my favorite card, so why not? That's a priority along with the Gehrig. I also really want a Tris Speaker, a Hugh Duffy and a Sam Crawford throwing, an Ed Walsh and a Keeler portrait. I'm going to also pick up a Hughie Jennings two hand if I can. Love that card. It's the embodiment of pure joy. Two non Hall of Famers I'd like to add are the Dutch Revelle Southern Leaguer, and the Pattee portrait. Edit: oh yeah, and the man in my avatar.

Vintage cards: two of my all-time favorite cards, a 1953 Bowman Color Stan Musial and a 1958 Topps Roberto Clemente. I want to upgrade my 1975 Topps Robin Yount to a PSA 8.5, pick up a George Brett 1975 Topps, and a 1953 Bowman Color Mickey Mantle. Then I'd like to add several from the 1956 Topps set, including Hank Aaron, Jackie Robinson and Ted Williams, maybe a Warren Spahn, Eddie Mathews and a nice Sandy Koufax. I might have to leave the '55 Clemente and the '54 Aaron for the year after, but I will pick up a few other Clementes towards my master set. Maybe a '61 and a '66. I'd like to pick up a Willie Mays, too.

Modern: a 2002 Bowman Chrome Joe Mauer auto, a 2005 Bowman Chrome Prince Fielder auto, and I better pick up a 2013 Byron Buxton Bowman Chrome auto before it explodes in price.

Some football cards, too. A high grade 1981 Topps Joe Montana to replace the one I traded away like an idiot. An '84 Topps Dan Marino, and a 2005 Playoff Contenders Aaron Rodgers. I also need to get the last Packers to finish off my 1965 Philadelphia Gum team set: Jim Taylor, Forrest Gregg, Willie Davis and Henry Jordan.

So yeah, just a couple of cards to pick up. :p I obviously won't hit all of these, but I've got a good outline of what I want for the next year or two.

Well, these goals were an epic fail, mostly because I decided that I needed to rebuild my savings before going hog wild spending on my collection.

I only managed to pick up two of the cards from my 2014 goals list, a very nice PSA 4 Dutch Revelle T206 portrait, and the Sam Crawford throwing T206. Both are in my image gallery.

I will be working on my collection soon.
