Nice, Clint.

WillowGrove 10-09-2013 05:50 PM

Uh Clint - I assume you and Hank and Val have had some conversations about all things WaJo? :)

ValKehl 10-09-2013 07:55 PM

Clint, great WaJo PCs! I never tire of seeing them!
Val

ksfarmboy 10-09-2013 08:07 PM

Thanks guys. Val your collection is top notch. Love the Holland and Texas Tommy cards.

Pete, yep we've had a couple conversations. Val and Hank are two of the best in the hobby.

Being married to a KS farm girl, I appreciate your devotion to legendary Kansans. Just imagine if Smokey Joe could have pitched as long as WaJo, and faced him a couple dozen more times. Great pics

Hankphenom 10-09-2013 09:49 PM

Amazing collection, Clint. Humboldt's just applied for a Smithsonian local history exhibit grant for 2015, and I told them I would help. If they get it, we'll be coming for your Walters to put on display!

Phil - that's more like it!!!

I didn't know that you ended up getting the Page Fence Giants Ad Card after all. And the c1908 Leland Giants Team PC is probably one of the best PCs in the hobby!!

Thanks, Derek! That one has quickly become a fave of mine, even though I don't usually collect postcards.

Thanks! I think it shouldn't be understated how rare it is to find the Mino and Kotton and Mendelsohn cards you have in such great condition. I don't know that I've ever seen such fine examples of any of these cards, let alone of one HOF player in one collection.

MattyC 10-12-2013 11:46 AM

Jeff,

Your Cobbs and Honus Tip Top Bread are INSANE! As is that undergraded 1953 Mantle PSA 7. Amazing cards.

Blair,

Love that Mino Speaker! What colors. Sharp specimen!

Awesome stuff all around. What it's all about.

Neat idea! I love those Exhibit cards:

ca. 1925 Babe Ruth-Rogers Hornsby-Mickey Walker-Georges Carpentier:

ca. 1925-31 PC Back Exhibit Gehrig 'silhouette' variation:

1928 Exhibit PCL Earl Averill:

1920s Exhibit freaks and oddities card of Zip the pinhead:

http://photos.imageevent.com/exhibit...eaks%20Zip.jpg

1931 Jim Thorpe:

http://photos.imageevent.com/exhibit...comparison.jpg

My cousin on a 1928 Exhibit card:

http://photos.imageevent.com/exhibit...Miller%203.jpg

1926 Exhibit Four Marks [sic] Brothers. This is the only Marx Brothers exhibit card I have ever seen. It is from a rare set of theatrical cards. The card mentions their stage work but not their films because they had not yet made a film. The Cocoanuts was their new play on Broadway and would not be filmed until after the silent film era ended.

http://photos.imageevent.com/exhibit...arx%20Bros.jpg

Cheating a bit here, as it is not a card though it is encapsulated by SGC. Advertising header for the 1921 Exhibit boxing/wrestling issue:

http://photos.imageevent.com/exhibit...ertisement.jpg

Another 'cheat': a checklist card for the 1951 print run of baseball exhibits:

http://photos.imageevent.com/exhibit...ard%20edit.jpg

Finally, 1932 Olympics issue of Babe Didrikson, the greatest female athlete of all time:

I'll play the player run game. Ten examples of my favorite Detroit player, Deacon White. Some of these cards I've posted a couple times, others have never been posted. They are in chronological order and all to scale except the first image which is greatly reduced from it's 16x20 imperial size (neat photo portrait w/ charcoal highlights).

Jeff

I thought I was the only one who had never seen a blue Chase with a DRUM back. And, I've been collecting Hal Chase cards (of all kinds) since 1981.
Anyhow, what are the chances of two of them surfacing ?

As you most likely would get the first one :)

Thanks,

TED Z
