7/15/1967: Bob Gibson's right leg is broken by a line drive off the bat of Roberto Clemente. Gibson would miss almost 6 weeks but the Cards didn't miss a beat winning the WS in seven games over The Impossible Dream Red Sox team.

Great photo Jeff! My dad was at that game and has told me about that play several times. He said he never had heard a sound like that before...

Phil, I actually got a really good deal from a dear friend. I am lucky to own such a piece. It is amazing how clear it is.. love the old steely tones of these early ones.

Eagles pickup

I didn't pickup up this piece this month, but just got around to photographing it. It is a 1960's Philadelphia Eagles "Sound of Brass" marching band uniform.

Eagles band

Here is an old original photo I have of the band performing at Franklin Field. This band was on the field playing Christmas tunes during the infamous 1968 halftime show that had Santa Claus pelted by snowballs.

1912 Boston New York World Series Promo Ticket

1 Attachment(s)
I am not exactly sure what this is, looks to be some promo for a saloon in Philadelphia, not sure if they gathered there to watch one of those mechanical baseball displays and get the Series "broadcast/wired" to them like was shown in Eight Men Out and seen in pictures people watching re-creations in the streets.

Any additional info would be much appreciated.

1. C. 1900 Schmelzers Sporting Goods football shoes with wooden cleats;. 2. 1907 Yale baseball program (one major leaguer represented);
3. Not baseball, but I know there are some Hartland collectors; 1940's Mastercrafters/Sessions clock with large Hartland Champ horse. Clock works. The nicest one I have seen.

Lots of pillbox hats.

Several cabinet photos arriving this week, including this one. The photo that I bought this from is horrible, so I've cropped out part of it. Looking forward to making a good scan.

Ben, that's such an amazing piece.

Is it in an oval-cut matt?

The one you posted I sweet too! Thanks Scott. No... Not in and oval... Why? Did you own one before? This is a underwood and underwood photo raw in a photo archival book/page in my safety deposited box until I figure out framing some things:)

I thought I saw curved edges at the top and bottom right, as if there was an oval matt over the piece. Must have been wrong.

No, definitely never have seen that image before - it's a great one.

Just won this Saturday night. It's 11x17 and comes from Wagner's family. The item I regret selling more than any other was a 1909 supplement of the Pirates that hung in Wagner's Forbes Field office. This is close enough.

Scott, that is simply magnificent! Congratulations.

Runscott 04-29-2013 09:04 PM

Thanks guys - I was very happy to get it. I hope I'm smart enough to just hang it on my wall and let it hang there until I'm dead.

Scott,
Mr. Wagner is magnificent. Eyes so sad, or perhaps just at peace. It's a fantastic image and I truly hope he stays on your wall forever.

Michael,
I have no appreciation for sports jewelry, but your enthusiasm and focus is awesome to see. Thanks for posting your finds.

The diversity of things people collect is a real inspiration.
