The Mona Lisa thing is still killing me. That's priceless right there :)
Also, I see that our friendly scammer has taken his pics out of the system ..... but I still have them up on my computer screen from before he zapped them. I am surprised that nobody stated the most obvious flaw in the scandal. As you can see from the actual auction page, the card is so severely trimmed that there is a TON of space between the card and the edges of the black insert: http://sports.ha.com/c/item.zx?saleN...79#58425842051 Here is the picture that Mr. Scammer had posted before he took it off the site. Followed by a simple blow up of him supposedly holding the card. Notice that all you see is black between the card and the edges of the SGC insert in both photos? If it were legit .... Mr. Scammer .... there would be light in the cracks around the card in the second picture.... or at least your white hand would be visible: |

To quote my favorite movie: "Fresh fish! Fresh fish! Fresh fish! Fresh fish!" |
I quote blackadder: " when all else fails, a stubborn, pig-headed refusal to look facts in the face will always see you through".
Now I'm afraid of all t206 wagners and what bodily fluids might be on them  |
Manti Te'o would be all over this deal.
|
Wait a minute! Now I know why people use blacklights on cards! I'm going to be sick.
|
Serious question, since someone obviously tried harder than normal, let's rate it a 6/10 on the "attempt to scam" scale (posting, story, picture, etc) is it worth it to try and flush him out a bit more? This didn't work on us, but, it might work on someone else.

Andrew. Who's your favorite Little Rascal?

Is andrew amish? That might explain his photoshop technique?

I honestly believe the FBI should look no further than this board when conducting an investigation into fraud. You guys are amazing!

He almost got away with it!
|
It almost looks like one of those forced POW photos...
Is anyone sure that's the guy, or just someone that he's kidnapped and is forcing to pretend to hold up a card and then watch some sort of horrible TV program???

There is not one person who buys and sells tobacco cards...that does not or would not know the value of or look up the value of a Wagner prior to trying to sell it.
Not long ago he posted 10 t cards for sale. End of story. |
S#%^ like this is what I really miss about the hobby, priceless !!
|
The part that has me laughing my butt off, is the reflection of his empty hand in the mirror. He must have spent hours practicing positioning his hand, when all he had to do was hold anything that was the same size, and paste the Wagner scan over it.
If I had John's photoshop skills, I'd put a banana in it. |

To me it makes sense that he is willing to sell this one.
I see that he has a better one in the background of the photo. It also looks like he has the original image... |
I'm guessing heroin.
|
gotta love how the SGC case is PERFECTLY squared to the camera...everything in that picture is disheveled except the card...

Andrew from TN
I actually met Andrew in person and traded with him a couple times in person. He has always been straight with me. I'm not sure if the Wagner thing was just a joke or whatever but the guy is a legit buyer and seller And to whoever posted the pic with him holding the Mona Lisa. AWESome. Funniest thing I've seen on this site yet

I have said it before...often con men create a seemingly honest persona (thus the word confidence men...they gain your confidence first) and then go for the big score...I feel that this might be the case.

Well, should we submit him to the "World's Dumbest Criminals?"
The empty hand in the mirror is enough to justify that qualification... I suppose picking an item that is tracked, whose owner is known, and the provenance of which contradicts the "Con man's" claim is not too brilliant either... |

Warning - do not meet this guy in person.
Seriously, if he is willing to meet you in person, and we already know that he does NOT have the card, nothing good can come from such a meeting. My best guess is that he's desperate for money (bad drug deal, gambling, who knows?) and this is a random shot he's taking. You knock on his door and there's no telling what's waiting for you. |
Anyone know his eBay ID?
|
where do you seen an empty hand in the mirror. i honestly see quite the opposite. i see the top of a card holder.
