Here's a cool postcard I picked up. It's a 1938-39 Drumheller Miners Team Postcard that includes the famous Bentley brothers: "Scoop" Bentley, Reg Bentley, Roy Bentley, Max Bentley (elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1966) & Doug Bentley (elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1964).

I got the 76-77 tall boys set today. I got it for a very nice price. However, today when I was trying to get through the packing tape and getting the box open, the scissors nicked the surface of the Erving #1. It is small and hard to notice, but it is drivng me crazy in an otherwise NM set with fantastic centering and great corners. If anyone has a raw sharp Erving for sale at a reasonable price, let me know.

Some of my early hockey stuff
11 Attachment(s)
Here are some of my items The first three are 54-55 topps I have most of the set in like condition Still need a four to complete. The marks on the cards are actually marks on my scanner I didn't clean the glass when I scanned the cards. There is a bower rookie, Cyclone Taylor printers plate from his time with Portland Lakes Hockey club (pre NHL) also a Roy Worters printers plate. He was the first goalie to win the Hart Trophy and Vezina trophy. The signature cards have many H.O.F. players and they were obtained at a 55-56 exhibition game between the Hawks and Bruins held in St Catherines Ont. The St Cathrines Teepees were Chicagos farm club. You will note that Don Cherry and Terry Sawchuk are on the same card. How rare is that? The Chicago sheet has Dick Irivin the legendary coach. This was his last year because he died of cancer shortly after. The rocket richard card is not real old but it is an original Autograph obtained during an oldtimers game held in St Thomas. The Johnny Pierson card is part of my complete set for that year and It is the only example of a blank back that I have seen anywhere. I have the complete master set (both back versions) for these including the album. I can post tons more if anyone is interested and would like to see them. I have tons of cards from the 50's that I am willing to trade if there is any interest.

I picked this up because I've never seen one before. 1982 ACC-tion game card of James Worthy. Part of an APBA-like dice game. It is about the size of a 1952 Topps BB card though wider. I'd call it a pre-rookie of Big Game James.

Great postcard! I'd love to know how much you snagged that for. Lalonde was arguably the greatest lacrosse player of his time, so to have a good photo of him in uniform is sweet! Here's my 1910 Star lacrosse Ottawa city champions cabinet photo with HOF'ers Clint Benedict and Jack Darragh that I got a while back. Cheers, Brent |

Jeff that pre-rookie of the admiral is a great looking card. I have never seen one one before. Congrats and thanks for sharing. Here is my latest pickup. I have been looking for a PSA 8 of this card for close to a year and finally found one that was centered and got it for a great price.

Proof Cards

I am very happy to have picked these up from the bay. Ten blank backed color proofs, along with one standard card from the 76-77 Topps Hockey release. Pictures to follow:
|
This ebay purchased arrived today leaving just four cards to complete the 1961 Topps set. Pat Stapleton had a 15 year NHL WHA career, but this card always looked a little creepy to me.

Here are a couple of recent pick-ups: • A beautiful for the grade 1953 Parkhurst Rocket Richard. Tough to find these centered with nice registration! • A 1922-23 Royal Bank Hockey Team RPPC with hall-of-famer Roy "Shrimp" Worters (Goalie) |
Circa 1910 Goalie Stick
3 Attachment(s)
Antique Goalie Stick. Just got this beauty in. St Marys Specialty Wood Company hockey goalie stick. Nice condition and I know these are hard to come by. I have been looking for one of these for my collection for a long time and the bonus is the condition and the makers mark
|
|
This card completes my 1966-67 Topps hockey set. The card gets an A grade because it is trimmed, SGC "customized" the gasket to prevent the card from moving around.

A bit of a toughie
I received in the mail today the last card I needed to complete my PSA graded 1973-74 Topps Basketball set. It is a PSA 9 #34 Leroy Ellis. I saw the card go up and I pulled the trigger at lightning speed. I haven't seen a PSA Ellis up for sale in at least a year (other than autographed ones), so I was elated to get one of the 3 9's that exist (no 10's). Of course, I can't add it yet (grrrr) because the person hasn't released the number yet, but I've got it. WooHoo!!!!
