Cobb beater
http://www.t206blog.com/wp-content/u...edmont-150.jpg I'm glad to see that Cobb made it into a net 54 members hands again. I originally bought it in 1996 I think when I was about 14 years old and it was by far the most I ever spent on a card.... I loved it for years and finally traded it off last year to another net54 member for an e121 Walter Johnson, after I had earlier picked up a Cobb Bat Off.... I saw it on ebay and thought about bidding on it again but didn't. I had it graded by SGC when I had it. Congrats A new r315 pickup for me...now I only need a Tom Zachary to complete my Yankees subset.... |

Brian--great W600 Wagner
|
The W600 Wagner looks even better in person....congrats Brian!!!
Here are my three baseball pickups from the National: http://rustywilly.com/cards/PSACARD/21999363_FRONT.jpg http://rustywilly.com/cards/PSACARD/21999363_BACK.jpg Gehrig has some light creasing from left to right, only visible on the reverse. If you cover the label and hold it 12 inches away it looks EX+. http://rustywilly.com/cards/PSACARD/..._001_FRONT.jpg http://rustywilly.com/cards/PSACARD/...2_001_BACK.jpg The W519 Robinson is an upgrade from a PSA-Authentic (cut too short). Been searching for a nicer example for 5+ years. Picked raw and graded at show. Thanks Dan, missed your dad. Please say hello. http://rustywilly.com/cards/PSACARD/..._005_FRONT.jpg http://rustywilly.com/cards/PSACARD/...2_005_BACK.jpg Thanks Richard |

Shoeless Joe New Orleans Team Photo
2 Attachment(s)
got this one back from my framer yesterday... as always very happy with the result... the photo is of the 1909 new orleans team with a very young Joe Jackson... the photo was actually cut out of a 1910 reach magazine... the guy who does all my framing and matting actually pointed out something interesting to me: all of the players have clean white sox, where Joe's appeared to be extremely soiled, and almost "Black" extreme coincidence or spookiness???
|
t202 end panel
Also managed to pick up the matty endpanel that I have been after for awhile... still looking for an upgrade, so if anyone has one let me know!
Thanks! Dave |

Wagner Mini-Find
Sunday night, I get a call from my friend. He's at a guy's house and he tells me the guy has a sick baseball card collection. I'm thinking he's got mid-1990s Upper Deck or something. The guy says he's got some Wagner cards. I was like, sure buddy. Maybe 1992 Conlons or something. But then he says the magic word.... "Dockman". He also had a beater E95 Wags. I picked them both up, and had them graded tonight on-site at the White Plains show. I am VERY happy with these.
How often does your friend call you to tell you about a couple of Wagners he found??!! <a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/j2HRLgDFYm9O7z07xlmNxZzPtoWrr2b6ZRPlCb-2ZyE?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-NXV_6P0J37A/UC2XetcjbZI/AAAAAAAALdM/TwyLFx38Kuc/s800/Wagner_E92_Dockman_SGC_40.jpg" height="800" width="487" /></a> <a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/a-VQdVkozWUcH-kmOv1DHYRT3dysq2WPtX5u9gk-z0Y?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-7f7t-vb2_4s/UC2uYPeoFQI/AAAAAAAALew/KonKNS5ltCE/s800/Wagner_E95_Phila_Car_SGC_A.jpg" height="800" width="481" /></a> |

Not really a pickup in the traditional sense but I recreated the original collage which I picked up a few months ago. The external 'boxed' players were beyond recognition but the cutouts came from the N172 OJ's. Most of the player poses are identical with a few exceptions and I even included the name cards. Each player was on the 1888 Baltimore B.B. Club except for Quinn who played for them in 1889. This was a fun project especially given the fact that the original was beyond restoration. I will likely make a double sided frame to showcase the original and the new one together. I think the last time I put together a collage was about 30 years ago :D
|
After initially striking out at the National, August turned out to be a very good month for me.
The borders on the Cobby are nice and bright and the Risberg is one more W514 Black Sox I needed (only Weaver and Gandil still needed). |
One for each collection

Pittsburg Base Ball Club 1903

Supplement from the Pittsburg Sunday Press. Picked this up somewhat recently, but just got around to taking it out of the frame (would guess from the 80s?) today. It was taped to the matte around the edges unfortunately.

Though not baseball I thought this flip book might be of interest here since it was issued by Fleer in the 19th century:
