This whole work thing can be really inconvenient sometimes. Next time, though. Have some creamed spinach for me.
|
one week to go.
its great to get the NYC dinners back on track. Looking forward to the conversations (and the steak). |
So far there are just six of us, and we have a reservation for eight. Anyone expect to be hungry that night?
|
I would have loved to meet you guys, but I will be away on business. Enjoy...maybe I can make the next one.
Jeff |
Hey guys- this Thursday February 23 is the night of our Net54 dinner. We will be meeting at:
Spark's Steakhouse 210 East 46th Street NYC Reservation: 6:30 PM So far we have six confirmed: Michael S., Joe, Barry, John, Robert, and Michael P. Any additions or subtractions to that number? Michael- should we still hold a table for eight, or should we tell them six? Look forward to reuniting with everyone, and there is still room for a few more but please let us know ASAP. |
hi barry- let's keep it at 8 for now...if come wed we're still only 6, we'll change the res.

I just got an email from Keith Thompson, and he would like to join us. So we now have a head count of seven, assuming everyone else is in.
|
Still In...
I'm still in...

Hi Barry,
I'm in and looking forward to tomorrow evening, although I don't relish the drive back to PA. Cheers, Mike |
Look forward to meeting you Michael. No, I wouldn't relish the drive into NY or back to PA....you are a trouper. Are you coming down with John?
|
Barry--I just talked with John and we'll be there in the Wonka-mobile. See you tomorrow.
Cheers, Mike |
A Wonka-mobile....cool:)
|
|
i will call Spark's tonight. just to confirm we are officially at 7 people? if that's the case, i'll adjust the res to 7 (down from 8).
|
So I likely will be stuck at work, but in the off chance that I can make it up there for a drink, what name will the reservation be under?

I plan to get there a little early- around 6:00 or 6:15, hope I won't be the only one. See everyone tonight!

Looks like another year that I won't be able to make it. It seems that the final choice always ends up being on a weeknight, which is too difficult for me commuting from NJ after getting out of work in the evening. I understand that the concensus rules and you can never make everyone happy.
Oh well, I hope everyone has a good time and enjoys their evening. Phil |
Tonight's the night

Phil is just going to have to take a day off of work for one of these dinners. :D |
I think that time Leon came in we did a Saturday.
|
i'm positive the dinner we did when Leon was in town was on a Thursday (don't ask me how i remember that).
the only weekend dinner we've done was at Rob Lifson's. |
Michael- Leon came in Friday Feb 15, 2008 and we had dinner on Saturday night.
How do I remember that day? It was the day my mom passed away.:( |
It was great seeing everyone tonight, catching up on old friends and meeting Michael P. for the first time...what a gentleman!
And a special thanks to John M. for going way above and beyond.... |
Barry- I agree on all accounts. was a great night- awesome steak & wine, and even better company.
John- thank you again. was a blast! |
Great seeing everyone had a great time needs to be done more often.
Cheers, John |
What a great evening!
The food was delicious, and the company and conversation was awesome. The best part of the hobby (to me) - is evenings like last night.... a chance to break bread, laugh, and share stories with fellow collectors. Here is a group photo.... (I wish I knew how to get the white from the flash out of everyone's eyes..... but here goes) http://www.internetville.com/stuff/nyDinner2012.jpg |
Thanks for posting that Joe. Yes, don't shoot until you see the whites of their eyes. For those who don't know our merry bunch, from left to right:
Michael P., Barry S. John M. (Wonka), Joe D., Michael S., Robert S., and Keith T. |
nice follow up
Nice follow up with pictures and a bit of commentary, guys. Sounds like another great evening. If I have said it once I have said it a thousand times.....a big part of the hobby (to me) is the friends and camaraderie.....I wish I was with ya'll last night....but I was attending a funeral. :(
|
sorry to hear that Leon.
|
Last evening is what the hobby is all about--enjoying talk about baseball while having good food and drink. Thank you, Barry, for organizing the evening, and thank you, John, for your generosity. It was a memorable gathering, and not the last one I hope. Thanks for asking me to join.
Cheers, Mike PS-I think I was more fortunate than most because Wonka and I talked baseball cards during the ride up and back. |
Likewise Mike I agree great conversation up and back.
Cheers, John P.S. Keith T amazing meeting ya if you're reading this great stories. |
Also- special thanks to Rob S. for bringing some incredible postcards to pass around the table!
