My first...

...Old Judge card! I purchased it this past weekend at a card show in Arlington, TX. My wife was kind enough to let me splurge. The folks at the show I purchased from were very nice and had a great selection of pre-war baseball as well as tons of post-war.

Mike,
That is a great card. I'm not sure if you were aware, but your Evers is missing a layer of color (Red I think). I have seen a handful of E93s like this. I have one Evers and also a Plank and a Tinker missing a layer of ink. Very cool. Here are my two Evers (yellow and orange) for comparison. 99% of E93 Evers I have seen are orange. Yours is only the second "yellow" Evers example I have seen. You can tell by looking at the face and glove that it is not just faded, but missing a layer of ink. http://img189.imageshack.us/img189/4...ellowsgc50.jpghttp://img252.imageshack.us/img252/7...3everspsa8.jpg JimB Quote:

My Dad gave me this card for Christmas which was celebrated late this year. He purchased it 25 years ago at a local show in 1985 we figure. I was insistant for him to buy the card, I found, for 50 cents when i was 8 yrs old. He thought it could be something that gets passed down because of the memory involved with the card and it involved both of us. I think its the second most valuable card I own.

Sweet Ghost Image
I agree. That ghost image is so stunning and it is so clear that it looks like a T206 Chance and a M116 Chance back to back!
Great Card! Take Care, Tim Kindler |

Technically not new pickups, but just got these back today from SGC.
I have 103 T206 Tolstoi backed cards. I hope to go over 50% of the confirmed list this year. Also finally have all the basic Rube Waddell T206 front back combos. 15 in total (8 portrait, 7 throwing). I hope to get a nice picture of them all soon. http://img546.imageshack.us/img546/3...stoichance.jpghttp://img198.imageshack.us/img198/7...stoikelley.jpghttp://img855.imageshack.us/img855/1...stoilajoie.jpg http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/5...dellsov350.jpg |

"^^^ Very close to being orange-ish. Nice assembly of red Cobbs! Your collection obviously has focus. :)"
Thanks! I noticed that too once the other Cobbs started to show up. The print is bolder than the red Cobbs so I would have to to go on a limb and say that it is possibly orange. I wanted to get the other T206 Cobbs in the set but I love the reds, which might not have been the wisest choice considering how many the are. Still looking though...... |

Couple Postcards
Two Negro Leaguers pictured on postcards from Mexico:
Ray Dandridge pictured while playing for Vera Cruz Azules http://i1023.photobucket.com/albums/...L/scan0006.jpg And Jesse Williams (shortstop for KC Monarchs) pictured while playing for Tuneros in San Luis Potosi http://i1023.photobucket.com/albums/...scan0004-1.jpg |
Jason:
Great Dandridge postcard, never seen that one before. |
Thanks, Phil. Obviously, some pinhole damage but I'd never seen it either. You'd think the owner could have put the pinhole a little to the left or right? Oh, well... still happy to have it and glad it survived at all.

Sweet PC's Jason, congrats!!

Some great pick-ups!
1 Attachment(s)
Here are some recent pick-ups. The T206 Fred Clarke Sweet Cap 150 and the 1907 Grignon Frank Chance PC are from the BST. The 1913 Pastime Novelty Co. Christy Mathewson PC was my end of a big trade. The Matty is easily by best PC!
