1886 Tomlinson Studio Cabinets
3 Attachment(s)
Some fantastic cards, I had no idea Kenny had so many nice cards (nice McCormick & Radbourn). Always like hearing updates on the crazy Corcoran collection. Nice cards all.
Here are a couple Tomlinson cabinets I haven't shown before (at least not that I recall). Lady Baldwin, Hardy Richardson, and Larry Twitchell. |
Beauties, Joe.

The other old judge set

Love the Ewing, Jim!

Wow thanks for showing an N167 example Jim. And seems undergraded in my opinion.

Sorry for the small pictures...I guess I should have learned how to enlarge the pictures before I posted.
The first is a Old Judge King Kelly and the second is a Kalamazoo Bats George Wood. Mike |
Nice Kelly, Mike.

I have plenty of other 19th century cards I can post with getting insulted by my good friend Joe. Here's one of the nicest looking Player's League card I've ever seen(as Joe could tell you, they are known for their poor photo quality) and somehow I have it. Interesting story,I've seen the negative for this photo and it shows more to the point you can see he is actually holding a shovel, not a bat and Goodwin labeled this the "Fend off Corcoran crowd" pose. Number 274-7b if you have the OJ checklist at home |

FANTASTIC cards, everyone!! Here's my N403 Yum Yum Tobacco type card. What I would truly love to see is a N370 Lone Jack Cigarettes card - hopefully, someone will post one!

People are posting some really nice cards.

I am looking at all these posts of these cards with a piece of drool hanging out of the corner of my mouth. Great cards keep em coming!:D:)

Here's one of my favorites, not a card but a nearly impossible to find Negro League HOF'er, Frank Grant...........

Because this thread is too good to die, I figured I'd keep it going with a card I finally got to scan. OJ Nyce on Burlington. He's the only player from the set on this team so it is super rare and try finding a nicer one. Heck I've tried finding a lower grade one so I could sell this one and use the difference to buy more cards!

These are the only two I currently own, but I may need to sell soon to help support the family. Though I plan on holding off as long as possible.

Love the Boston cabinet card. |
Bruce-Is that Boston image a cabinet or a CdV? I seem to recall a CdV of this team that sold a couple years ago.

Great Cummings CDV! Based on the size, that 1877 Boston must be a cabinet card, not sure if a similar version was produced as a CDV or not..... |

And I can add a new card too - very excited to present my latest 19th century pick up. Hey who got that Hanlon cabinet in REA. A beauty.

Jim- Great card! It was part of a find I had a few years ago. I still have some regrets for selling it.
|
THanks Gary. I really love the card. Can you say more about the find. Were there other Hess California league cards? I think I vaguely remember a thread about the find.
JimB |
Jim- The original thread was on 10/18/09. There was also a Charlie Sweeney N338-1 and a Hess Newsboy in the find of only 20 cards. The other 17 cards were common OJs.

Very cool pieces, Michael. That's the earliest image of Ban Johnson that I have ever seen.
|
Comiskey, Johnson, and Connie Mack on one piece very nice! Also I was misinformed that Cap Anson was forced into retirement in January 1898, looks like his retirement was planned during the 1897 season, nice historical piece!

Leon-The baseball CdV was in the album pictured on this post. The album contained many Civil War era images as well. The baseball CdV is dated 1867 at the top. The players names are listed at the bottom and the picture was taken in Sante Fe, New Mexico. This is the earliest baseball CdV I have ever seen from west of the Mississippi. I have been in contact with the the New Mexico Historical Society, as well as other New Mexico organizations, regarding the image. Researching it is still a work in progress, but I believe the image will end up in some New Mexico historical publication eventually. The fact that there was a baseball team in the New Mexico Territory in 1867 amazes me. I also have a baseball CdV taken in the Dakota Territory, but it is from about 1880.
