Very nice, Scott! One of the coolest portraits in the hobby, that Cobb.

I might have a new card to post for the next "favorite card" thread. Fittingly presented against a backdrop of Yankee pinstripes... :D

Runscott 12-10-2011 10:36 AM

Thanks, Chuck. And that's my favorite Ruth card - beautiful example.

My first post from my collection

I just received these two cards. These are my first old judge cards and I am very pleased.

http://i1118.photobucket.com/albums/...dJudgeBack.jpg Harkins Back

I am really excited about these. I don't think I could want a better two first Old Judge Cards.

Though I am still waiting on the very best December "Pickup". As my wife is due to go into labor any day. So these cards will very quickly be overshadowed.

Mark, awesome Greenberg. I was the underbidder for a few of the 36 Goudey auctions. Managed to snag a couple:

Maybe a new baseball in a box? Doesn't look like his glove is on his hand so I'm thinking he's probably bringing them somewhere...he may even have to boxes in his hand as the one that is visible is sticking out pretty far in his hand...just my 2 cents...

It's been awhile since I have shown any pickups...here's a new Vander Meer Action and a '33 Goudey of Joe Sewell.

Thanks Phil ! I was quite excited to get my hands on these!!

Each "card" is about 3"x2" and comes in a booklet that folds up accordian-style so that the front shows the "Mejoral" cover and the back has the "Dos Segundos" advertisement.

Below are more scans of the Mejoral Almendares booklet (w/ Dick Williams):

What's with the PSA flip on the O'Leary? I don't think I've ever seen "1909-1911" on a PSA T206. Was that added for a short period of time?

Flips are inconsistent - I was just noticing the Wallace no-cap, 1-line has that noted. Mine does not:

I agree, nice pick-ups Steve. The O'Rourke is a beauty!

Steve D 12-17-2011 06:34 PM

Thanks guys :)

Yea, that O'Rourke really blows me away. Absolutely the only thing I can find "wrong" with it is the clip on the left edge. Other than that, it's untouched except for the rounded corners. It has some very minor creasing as well as what might be a faded pencil marking on the back.

All I can say is SGC killed it on the grade. Another example of BTCNTH! :D

Congratulations. Mine was also in a PSA 'poor' holder - I freed Lou and he looks much better in a top loader.

Slabbed 'poor' cards can really be a great buy, since 'poor' can mean almost anything. Picked this one up a few weeks ago:

Scott F- nice looking Gehrig there...

Packs- that is why I collect lower grade too. That card demonstrates precisely why you can't sell or make offers on lower end cards without seeing them. That card should sell for a 2+ price all day long.

And here are some W519s with wet sheet transfers on back. I already had the W519-1 Morton with full image on back. I notice someone is selling a very similar type card on ebay for 5k+. If anyone wants this one I will sell it for 4k, today only!!! :) (I paid $40 for it not too long ago, from Ed H.)

This Ted Easterly T207 arrived today. I thought it was a classic catcher pose for the T207 set. Don't recall seeing this player before. Maybe one of the T-207 experts can chime in to whether or not this is a tougher T207 to find.
