One of those weird situations where you sell a card on Ebay, regret selling it, and then see it pop back up on Ebay a few months later. Happy to have it back.

Does anyone know what causes the purple discoloration on this card? Was there are find with several cards like this? I have some just like it.

old-baseball 10-25-2011 09:30 PM

Looks like Pepto Bismol bath to me!

Jaybird 10-25-2011 10:42 PM

Maybe blue fountain pen ink that someone has tried to get out? Just a thought. Perhaps the original owner was using as a blotter and then some collector got the card and soaked it in something to try and get rid of the ink. The rest of the card looks so worn that I have to think it's been soaked a bunch.

I have a t213 beater that looks exactly like that, with slightly bluish toning. Maybe a factory mishap?

Howe’s Hunter 10-27-2011 09:40 PM

This aquisition actually started in August

Lot of eight PSA graded cards with front scans only. I could see that two of the cards had the MK qualifier, but no mention of what earned the card the MK. After several emails to the seller, found that one of the cards did have Howe's stamp, as did five other cards he found in his collection rather quickly.

<a href="http://s150.photobucket.com/albums/s81/T206ster/?action=view&amp;current=186Cree.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s81/T206ster/186Cree.jpg" border="0" alt="186 Cree"></a>

Then two weeks later, he emails me to say he found three more....

<a href="http://s150.photobucket.com/albums/s81/T206ster/?action=view&amp;current=192Gilbert.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s81/T206ster/192Gilbert.jpg" border="0" alt="192 Gilbert"></a>

The final card comes from a Kevin Savage auction. Kevin was kind enough to email me and let me know this one was up for bids, and I was able to get it.

<a href="http://s150.photobucket.com/albums/s81/T206ster/?action=view&amp;current=195Ritchey.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s81/T206ster/195Ritchey.jpg" border="0" alt="195 Ritchey"></a>

These 10 bring the total in the rebuilt collection up to 195. Never imagined when I started four and a half years ago I would ever find half this many.

Back from the technologically dead. I had to replace my ten year old computer and put in a new scanner to boot. I just want to thank Mike, Lauri and Mike for the cards. I also visited another flea market and an antique store. The first picture I know is off topic, but it is of a pre-War player (good one too) and I have to admit I chose to post here instead of the memorabilia section. The second picture is of Thomas d'Alesandro (who?!), the mayor of Baltimore when MLB was deciding where to move a pre-WWII franchise in the St. Louis Browns. Peeping Toms and politicians :D.

Also the father of Nancy Pelosi!

Brian Van Horn 10-29-2011 01:24 AM

Orioles1954,

Thank You for the information. I also found in researching d'Alesandro that his son, Thomas L. J. D'Alesandro III, was also mayor of Baltimore from 1967-1971, but I'm digressing from the topic. I will have to be down again from posting scans because the transfer of files on my computer did not get all of my scans, so back to the shop it goes.
