July Discovery

I have been going through a lot of my Grandma's T206s with out ever paying much attention to the backs. Thanks to this site I have discovered that we have 26 T206 Hindu backs with 2 red and 24 brown.

This one though is the best. Never thought it was worth much, because it is probably a SGC 30. I was wrong. This site has been I wealth of knowledge. Thanks.

http://i976.photobucket.com/albums/a...u/IMG_1749.jpg

Brendan 07-12-2011 04:17 PM

Nice Johnson Hindu. Looks high grade from here.

alsup2311 07-12-2011 04:23 PM

Brendan - Looks better in photo you can't really see the light crease at his forehead. If you look at his hair real hard you can see a faint white line in it.

I know someone will ask, so here is what I discovered I had: (Is there any thing other than the Walter Johnson that stands out?)

The two red are:
Duffy, Chicago - Amer.
Donlin, N.Y. Nat'l 3-4.
The Brown Hindu backs:
Walter Johnson
Carey, Memphis
Manion, Columbia
Cranston, Memphis
Revelle, Richmond
Perdue, Nashville
McIntyre, Brooklyn
Alperman, Brooklyn
Shaughnasy, Roanoke
Persons, Montgomery
Shaw, St. Louis Nat'l
Thornton, Mobile
Mullaney, Jacksonville
Griffith, Cincinnati
Wiltse, N.Y. Nat'l
Tinker, Chicago- very bad condition
Donovan, Detroit
Tenney, N.Y. Nat'l
Ames, N.Y. Nat'l
Stone, St. Louis Amer.
Reulbach, Chicago Nat'l
Ferris, St. Louis Amer.
Bresnahan, St. Louis Amer.
Bransfield, Phila Nat'l

Thanks,
Dan

Mikehealer 07-12-2011 04:33 PM

Very nice Daniel. Nine Southern Leaguers and three other HOFers in the brown.
As well as a Duffy red Hindu. Very nice, congratulations.

A Constable Stamp...on a Chase card...seems about right...

Just picked this up from eBay (Probstein) and while I normally steer clear of cards with qualifiers, had to have this one because:
a) it's a Chase in White Cap which I don't have;
b) it's in nice shape for a PSA 4;
c) it has the coolest stamp on the back...has anyone else seen any of these "constable" stamped cards???

I guess I'll have to be on the look out for anymore with this back stamp...now I know how Ed feels!!! :)

I bought it, already opened, knowing that any card had been removed (and several of the cig's had been smoked). However, the price was right (to say the least). Do you somehow know for a fact, Marty, that it would have been a bird or flag, or are you just supporting my rationalization for not being disappointed?:)

bcbgcbrcb 07-26-2011 08:41 AM

Joe:

Great condition on the Dihigo card, that is probably the nicest one of those that I have seen.

Northviewcats 07-26-2011 09:24 AM

Dihigo condition

Thanks Phil. I was real happy with the card's condition. It looks a lot better in hand than in the picture. I'm looking forward to having it graded.

Best regards,

Joe

bcbgcbrcb 07-26-2011 09:32 AM

Sounds good, an SGC 40/3 would be quite a nice grade for that set.

mannybb24 07-26-2011 02:09 PM

Nice Dihigo Joe!! I was 4th in line on bidding on that beauty, I didn't go any higher cause I believed there to be a small amount of paper loss on the upper left hand corner that would have affected the grade. Now with the card in hand, is that paper loss or a printing defect in the yellow border??
Just curious, anyways, great pick up on a tough card!!

Steve

glchen 07-26-2011 02:43 PM

I was the immediate underbidder on that Dihigo. Very nice card. I did pick up both of the Montiel Ruth's from that seller.

Northviewcats 07-26-2011 02:50 PM

Upper left corner

Hello Steve,

I think I'm good on the corner. Looked at it through a magnifying glass and I don't see any paper loss damage or even any changes in the texture of the paper. But I don't have a lot of experience, there may have a flaw that shows up under high magnification that I cannot see.

No matter what grade I get I will be happy with the card. It displays better than any Montiel that I have in my collection. I've only seen a couple of them for sale on eBay in the last year. They were offered on high buy-it-now prices that were out of my reach.

Best regards,

Joe

Northviewcats 07-26-2011 02:55 PM

Hi Gary,

Great pick up on the Ruths. I bid on the one with the yellow border, but obviously my bid wasn't high enough.
