Pre War Room...... DONE!!
5 Attachment(s)
Finally finished this Pre War project. Now it's on to the "Athletics Room".
5 sets of 5 pics to follow. A few very nice pieces either did not fit, or just weren't right for the layout of the room. Please keep an eye on the Memorabilia B/S/T, as I'll be offering up some very nice stuff when time allows... thanks! |

Where's the good stuff Mark?
I'm blown away Mark. Amazing stuff and very nicely displayed. Looks great! |
Fantsatic collection, thanks for taking the time to show us.
|
Collection
Stunning collection and display room Mark. Thanks for posting photos.
|
Bravo Mark!
Wow- what a great room! Congrats on completing your project & your collection is really amazing!
|
Mark --
Absolutely fantastic. I love the Ty Cobb pieces in the very first photo -- the slider and the loving cup-type trophy. I assume in your tall case of gloves, the card being displayed matches the glove endorser? Any chance of seeing some more wide shots like the very last photo? Once more -- stunning, what a labor of love. Greg |
Mark,
What happened...you couldn't find anything good to display so you went with that stuff? OMFG that stuff is unbelievable. Is it possible that when I die, I could be buried in that room surrounded by those displays? Congrats on a wonderful labor of love. Mark |
Mark, I am speachless. While I believe you have shown me most of your top pieces over the years, seeing them all displayed in such a museum quality manner it fantastic. I hope you are enjoying the fruits of your labor my friend:)
|
Wow!
Amazing stuff Mark! And so nicely set up/ displayed. I much prefer the orderly clean approach to displays as opposed to a room that looks cluttered and overstuffed with items. Well done. Thanks for posting the pics.

Many thanks to all for the very kind comments. Makes it feel much more worth the time invested in putting this all together!
Greg- Yes... each Goudey Card matches the endorser of the Glove within that cubicle. I had to recently splurge for a Dazzy Vance Goudey, as that particular glove just had to be included in the tower display. Guess I'm one of the few "dinosaurs" left who actually prefers these cards raw. Fortunately, I already had the other corresponding cards  I've had a bunch of requests for more close-up photos of some of the items. So I'll throw the requested pics into these next 2 posts. 1. Early smoking-related items 2. Catchers Mask examples- 1900s/1910s/1920s/1930s 3. Walter Johnson Trophy 4. Cubs Cubicle 5. Shafer - Vater Figurals Thanks again for your very nice feedback on the room! |

A few more blown-up pics that people had requested...
1. Rare style Bead-weld Mask 2. Misc. early figurals 3. Trophy Cups That's it... thanx!! |
You could charge admission, man. Incredible room!
|
Thanks for sharing. Beautiful displays tastefully done! It's like visiting your own museum!

I collect Dodgers and Vikings figural pieces (obviously)
|
Great collections . You are all VERY Lucky.
|
Bob...
Those figural pieces are off the charts! That big Promotional Brooklyn Bum piece must be one of a kind? I also love the Dodger Weirdos. I have made lots of attempts at these over the years, but always either get outbid, or find that there was undisclosed damage or restoration work done. Seems like these are nearly impossible to find original and in nice condition. But yours all look great! Gorgeous displays... love your Stanford Pottery White Elephant too. Great Post! |

Waaay to make a splash with your first post! Beautiful collection and well displayed. I love the use of trim to provide a way to hang your jerseys. The pennants are terrific as well. Thanks for posting.

Welcome to Net54 Jerry.
Thank you for showing us that there are people with great collections who are not members of our little community. Doug |
Doug, I think we would all be shocked by how many great collectors and collections are unknown to us and who have never heard of our board.

MVP Award
Whose MVP award is that? (if you want to share)...same goes with the Gold Glove.

MVP is the 1955 Yogi Berra that hung in the Dieges & Clust office. |

Great job Jerry. I especially like the way you have your bats hanging...would be perfect for my room. Was that pre-made or did you make that yourself? Details please!!
Mike |
Jerry - Very, verrrry nice collection and nicely displayed too. Love the bat rack and the Mantle bat is great as well. Do you have any close ups of it?
Are there any good stories of how you acquired any of these items aside from auctions? |

I had my carpenter build it. Figured it was the best way to house and display my bats. Pictures are attached. The big opening is 1 1/2" - the front opening is 1 1/8" and it is 3" deep. Hope this helps. Jerry |
Bat racks
Jerry,
I did exactly the same thing when it came time to design a way of displaying my bats. My carpenter's solution is virtually the same identical setup. My only regret is that I wish that I had more space. My bat collection is currently about 50% bigger than my bat racks. One of these days I will get around to properly displaying the remainder of the collection.... Oh well  |
Love these memorabilia room threads! Great looking bat display. Anyone looking for racks, very similar to Jerry's, take a look at Ebayer " 910bill ". He does nice work.
|
Jerry, thanks for the extra pictures and the rack dimensions. That's exactly what I need.
John, I looked at that ebay seller and you're right...they are very very similiar and very inexpensive. That may be the easiest way to go. Scott, my friend, you know you can always display the remainder of your bats at my place...and I won't even charge you a fee to come look at them :D |
Not to much vintage but....

I thought I would bring this thread back to the top. I love seeing all of the memorabilia rooms and I just got my memorabilia room (Man Cave) finished. Pretty much everything displayed is signed. As you can see I like to collect Minnesota Twins and Vikings memorabilia. I will apologize in advance - the pictures are not the best. The last photo is my setup for watching games.
|
dwr11- That is very impressive! Great job and wonderful stuff! Did you buy the glass cases stock or did you have them made?
All of these rooms are amazing. I do not want to show these to my wife. She is a saint but her patience is running thin with all my stuff piled on the floor. I did make some points two weeks ago selling over 800 college football media guides. I had to drive them to Memphis, it weighed over 1,000 pounds. She was elated! |

I don't have a lot of memorabilia out but I do have a few signatures displayed in the media room and bar area:

Well done gents...very tasteful displays

Beautiful rooms, Bob and Jeff. Very tastefully done!
|
Wow! Bob & Jeff I echo what Scott said, both areas look really nice.
|
Nice job to both of you. Both rooms are outstanding.
|
Thanks guys...the credit goes to my Dad for building the hanging wall units for the cards as well as re-finishing the "candy display" case. He does solid work !!
|
figured this thread could use a bump if anyone else has a room to share. Thanks to those that did, there are some incredible collections out there!

My Office
8 Attachment(s)
Pictures of my office...it is more functional then a real display room. Also pictures of 1 of my 2 store rooms. It takes a lot of space to store 14k + publications. I have started to expand my collection of wire photos which fit more easily in a book shelf.
|
Jeff, no one's desk is that neat!
|
Really Anal
Quote:
You made me smile. I have 3 desks, the one in the picture, my desk in my office at work and one at the firehouse where I volunteer....they all look the same. I am Mr. Anal about my work space. Sorry again about your ball. Jeff |
Very nice Jeff! You have some great storage solutions there.
I hope to get to doing a small Athletics Room this weekend (which also serves as my home-office). Will post pics Sunday night, provided I can finish it. To David's point... I'll now have to de-clutter and clean off my desk, just to make it look presentable. Thanks a lot  |
Damn...I had to move the clutter just to find my mouse to open this thread! Nice room Jeff!
|
Jeff,
I think you should expand your wire photo collection to include everything except Lou Gehrig!:D 14K of publications!! Holy crap. So have you read them all? Do you collect all publications or just select stuff? Also remember, the sign of a brilliant mind is a cluttered desk. This is why I don't clean mine. That way people think I'm really smart. Just noticed....Computer is open to Net54. Best, Mark |
Jeff, is that Benny on the wall!?! Love that guy.
|
Great rooms ! Great storage ideas ! I need to learn how to make shelves.
Just think some collectors put everything into a safety deposit box and never really enjoy the cards and memorabilia. |
Just think. Some collectors don't and then lose it all to fire or theft.
(BTW, I believe in a happy medium.) |
Thanks
Thanks all for the nice comments...
I have always collected a little bit of every team and sport and have continued that with the wire photos. My real focus is the Brooklyn Dodgers, Mets, Giants & Army football, Islanders and NY Knicks. @ Josh- Yes that is Benny. It was from the 10/7/00 playoff game and he won it in extras with a home run. I was at the game and it was very exciting. @Mark- Lou is safe, although I have a ton of vintage Yankees wire photos. If anyone wants to make trades, please PM me. Thanks, Jeff |
