Mike:
That's a really cool scorecard! I really like the ones with the player photos on the covers. |
Mike S.- that's a big time scorecard, from the World Series no less. Great pick up. I once owned the color one between Brooklyn and New York. One of those things I wish I kept.
|
mind if I ask where you found such a great piece Mike?

Thanks guys....I actually picked this up at a small family auction that I have been dealing with for years and was shocked I got it. As much as I would love to keep it, I know the flip would help out a lot and now trying to decide who to consign with.
|
Thanks for the update Mike, I look forward to seeing it at auction. Great news for a Detroit collector. Congratulations on a great pick-up.
|
Very nice scorecard, Mike! Great pick-up.

A variety of pick-ups since last month.
Was stoked to win this Red Belt off eBay. Won the M116 Speaker from Legacy; don't have it in hand yet. The Tip Top Forbes Field card came from Mile High; just arrived today. http://photos.imageevent.com/kawika_...t%20Lobert.jpg http://photos.imageevent.com/kawika_...%20Speaker.jpg http://photos.imageevent.com/kawika_...es%20Field.jpg E96 Meyers courtesy of Iggy on the BST. It's a Lovely Day! T209 McGeehan is an upgrade. http://photos.imageevent.com/kawika_...6%20Meyers.jpg http://photos.imageevent.com/kawika_...20McGeehan.jpg This is the Williams Exhibit that was the subject of my recent post about sellers' obligations. Card got here in a hurry and intact so my concerns were mooted. There are some great cards in the '53 Bowman Color set. This is one of them. http://photos.imageevent.com/kawika_...illiams%20.jpg http://photos.imageevent.com/kawika_...mn%20Bauer.jpg |

The T206 quest continues:

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y28...Napreverse.jpg I'm a newbie here, so this is my first attempt to attach a photo to a message. This is a recent purchase on ebay. I still have not seen it, but it looks good in the scans. I've always wanted a Lajoie, and always liked the coloring on this card! |
Nice card, Paul. That's one you just can't go wrong with. I think if a poll were done, that pose would rank in a lot of collectors' top 10 from the T206 set.

Gary
As you may know the team composite is of the Lincoln Baseball club. We sold an entire collection from this team in Spring 2009 Auction.
Here is a link to the cabinet, it has the names on the back as well. http://www.b-lauctions.com/site//ima...tem_5828_1.jpg http://www.b-lauctions.com/site//ima...tem_5828_2.jpg Scott |
Gary- I have McClure in my large panoramic photo of the 1867 Nationals of Albany, but he is pictured with very short hair.
|

Scott-I believe both the cabinet and CdV were taken in Bonn, Germany. Interestingly the CdV was found in England.
Barry-I've posted my Albany Nationals CdV before, but here it is again. McClure is on the right. Both the team and individual CdV were taken by the same photographer. |

Thank you very much. I have enjoyed the visual appeal of this card for awhile. One of the things I love about this is you can't see clearly all of the letters of Cleveland on his jersey - I like how it shows the "wrinkles". But hey, that's just me! |
Christmas came late for me this year! But I have rewarded myself for all of my hard work and sacrifices over the year (shhhh...no telling the wife, unless you want to hear me sing soprano!) with another iconic card that I have wanted for a LOOOOONG time.
For me, nothing says baseball than the photo of Chirsty Mathewson, hands crossed on chest, getting ready to throw. And in the black cap. The image just screams sexy....that and Kate Beckinsale with little clothes on, but this is a baseball card forum, so lets not go there.... Anyway, I picked this up on the 'bay recently. http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y28...0Mathewson.jpg |
Gary- mine is two years later and by then McClure's hair is close cropped.

MLB Player HOF'ers: 204 Have Card: 199 Have Rookie Card: 161 Rookie's left: 43 (I'm going to need to hit the lotto soon)! Dan |
Dan:
Very nice Hubbell card! I'm a little confused with the numbers but....... |
Quote:
Of which I have 161 of what I would call their true RC (first year card, not a pin, photo, etc.) That means I need 43 more RC's. For 38 of those 43 missing players I have a card close to their RC (usually within a few years). That leaves 5 MLB Player HOF'ers that I don't have any cards for (Delahunty, Griffith, McPhee, Nichols and Rusie). After 4 years I finally decided this week to figure out how I'm doing! Dan |
161/204, that's pretty impressive. How many out of the other 43 do you think you will realistically be able to obtain true rookie cards for?
|
Quote:
1893 Just So .. Burkett (? not sure how many there are), Young E107 Mathewson (maybe Allegheny, since it is 1904 and E107 is 03-04 maybe it can be called a true RC) E107 Wagner (I guess I'll have to settle for the Fan Craze) Allegheny Bresnahan ... missed it last auction, but you never know The rest are all possible....
