Best Looking Card Ever
Leon,
I apologize for the delay in responding to your Marten's Bakery Cobb...I was away for a few days and also got caught up with the holidays. It is incredible to say the least, and one of the nicest cards I have ever seen! Thanks for posting. Joe |
I don't own one, but this is my favorite card from the N162 set.

Best looking ever?

Haven't seen either of these, and am surprised. King Kelly just looks like a 19th century ballplayer. Sort of makes up for Captain Jack Glasscock. And the colors in Joe D's art deco piece are almost as beautiful as the way he swings the bat or played the outfield.

Best looking cards ever? Two ...

King Kelly just looks like a ballplayer. And the art deco colors on Joe D's 41 Playball are as sweet as his swing.

Amazing...nobody got it right yet! The obvious answer is Zeenut Halla, with Merkle 2a, and Leach a very close 2b. I thought you guys knew your stuff! ;)

I'd like the T227 Cobb better if the image looked more like Cobb and less like Telly Savalas.

These two get my pre-war vote:

There's a Zukertort on eBay right now, Don, in case you're looking.
The "correct" answer to the initial post is O/T: 1957 Topps Mantle Hope to see all in Baltimore. Mark |
1952 Topps Bob Feller
I always loved the 1952 Topps Bob Feller card! He grew up like 5 miles down the road from where I did in Iowa & we have the same birthday of November 3rd.

The Plank Novelty Cutlery is sweet.

Besides the Wagner and Plank from the T206 set, the two cards I always wanted most as a kid were the 1939 Play Ball Ted Williams and 1949 Bowman Satchel Paige. A card I thought was beautifully designed and was a great portrait of youth was the 1958 Topps Roger Maris.

IMHO - not many cards can beat a nice 19th century photographic card with a beautiful and clear image.
