Posted By: Jeff Lichtman
Guys, for what it's worth, the NYT reporters usually have a bunch of on the record sources they use to get a quick quote for a story the reporter is writing. My guess is that he called Jim's kid's boss for a quote and his boss either let Jim's kid email or give the previoulsy agreed-upon, Lehman endorsed-quote over the phone. I think some of you guys are giving the media too much credit as to how they value the sources for their stories. The reporters just want to get the story in asap and most of the time the quote itself is more important than the source. All that being said, I'd like for my sons to be quoted in the NYT someday.

Posted By: Dan Bretta
Don't take it personally Paul. Jeff said it better than I...the NYT isn't going to spend a whole lot of time looking for someone to tell them what everyone already knows...they just want it on record and from a trusted source (which just happens to be Jim C's company).
