Posted By: Brian Weisner

Hi Marc,
I had narrowed it down to 2 cards before I located the consecutive Cert numbers, but stopped looking after that.
I will look at the last 3 catalogs when I get home and try to post the results. Be well Brian

PS I think Art named the "butchered" Drum in the old thread about Scott's card.

Posted By: Jon Canfield
Did anyone notice how the Cobb had a strip of orange at the top? - I found it interesting since we sometimes see the orange background Cobb's and this front seemed to have a single "pass" of orange at the top...

Posted By: Art M.
The original T206 Drum back card was a Donovan, throwing pose, Detroit. It came out of the April 29, 2000 Ron Oser auction, lot #47.

Posted By: Brent Huigens
To All Who've Posted.

I just want to thank everyone for the time and effort put forth in researching this "card". Scott Levy first contacted me to discuss the legitimacy, and afterwards swayed me to end the auction.

I myself am mostly a collector, and hate the thought of a card like this "floating around" to potentially fall upon some unknowing buyer for $15,000! This card already exchanged hands for a high price tag, which I feel strongly BVG should be held accountable. The card (a consignment) is still in my possession and will remain there until this issue is resolved. I sincerely hope that BVG steps to the plate to address this issue.

If I don't get a phone call or email in the next few days, I will be contacting Beckett directly.

As a side note, this is my first experience with this message board, but needless to say it's doing a great job, and certainly helps the hobby of collecting. I'm assuming that Scott's helpful discussion was fueled in no small part by info exchange here.

Keep it up.

Brent Huigens
PWCC Auctions
805-440-8903
Posted By: Scott Levy
Thanks for the recognition Brent. I think that you've handled the situation admirably. And I hope that you will join the board as a regular. I will also be interested to see what Beckett says.

In full disclosure, I had purchased the previous serial number Cobb/Drum and held it for several yeats before sending it to PSA about a year ago. PSA initially had slabbed it as a crossover from BVG. Then upon a second inspection they determined that the card was indeed rebacked. To make a long story short, PSA worked out an adequate arrangement to buy the first FrankenCobb, take it out of circulation, and make me whole -- that is probably why I was so persistent on this one.

Regards,
Scott

I got my MS at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, which is where I got my '805' area code.

I'll hope to keep in touch with the message boards.

Regards,

Brent

Posted By: Ted Sherman
UNBELIEVABLE detective work on this card. i mean you even found out WHERE the back came from!!!! Also PWCC always has nice stuff on ebay, and I am pretty sure he would ruin his rep selling this "Frankencard". Anyways auction has gone poof, one more reason to stay away from BVG holders

Posted By: Brent Huigens
All,

I have positive news regarding this situation. Mark Anderson and I have come to an agreement where Beckett will be reviewing the Cobb/Drum in question, and upon verification of "rebacking" will be purchasing back the card.

In addition to thanking the message board for their involvement, I would also like to extend my upstanding opinion of Mark Anderson and his management of this situation, and the new Beckett Grading (BGS/BVG).

Regards,

Brent Huigens
PWCC Auctions
805-440-8903
