Posted By: <b>barrysloate</b><p>Bill- it was 2000. I always used to joke with a friend when he was filling out his brackets: "make sure you pick at least one 12 to beat a 5." The 2000 tournament also had virtually no upsets in the first round.

I remember reading something somewhere that a good bet is always to bet on each #12 seed in the tournament, as even if you are only right on one of them, you make out. So I was definitely biting my nails - I thought Xavier had it at about 2 minutes to go and 7 or 9 points up, or whatever.<br /><br />Great ending - even with Oden fouling out with the intentional foul with 9 seconds in regulation. Had to do it, and smart foul on his part.<br /><br />J

Posted By: <b>Bob</b><p>Xavier made a cardinal mistake that almost all basketball coaches make. If you are up 3 with seconds left, you foul the guy with the ball before he takes the shot. This means 2 free throws instead of giving him a shot at making the 3. You rarely see any coach with the guts to do this but it always works if you have the cajones to do it.

Marquette2 bracket, however, had it been entered would be tied for first place. Unreal! I submitted the bracket with all the upsets in the 54 contest and the one in which I used my head in another area and had 98.0 percent which would have tied our current leader as of Sunday morning. No cinderellas this year but an incredible amount of good tight games. <br />Unless someone near the top has Memphis or Oregon to win it all (doubtful), and it happens, I think the standings won't change much as almost everyone had GTown, NC, Kansas, Florida, Ohio State moving on and also Memphis and UCLA in the mix. <br />Not like last year...
