Kind of a thank-you for her likely biting her tongue while seeing all the Lajoies, Speakers and other Indians stuff marching into the house lately.

I wake up today and this is the only thing I won.
LOT 1245: 1859 New York Knickerbockers and Brooklyn Excelsiors Team Photo

Still, it's the first thing I ever won in any of the big auctions.
I'm happy, and the wife's happy that this is all I won.

Posted By: Dylan
Great pickups guys. I really thought the Kotton Cobb was a great pickup for the price, thought it was graded harsh, look at the big borders! Very nice pickup Leon, looks like the board picked up a lot of the goods!

Posted By: Eric Brehm
I managed to win the 1915 Cracker Jack Joe Jackson EX 5 in the REA auction. One peculiarity with this card is that there are significantly more examples graded EX-MT, NM, and especially NM-MT, than there are ones graded EX. This seems to be true of other cards from the Cracker Jack set as well. It is rather like a 'condition rarity' that exists in the middle, rather than at the high end of, the condition range. I wonder if this stems somehow from the fact that the higher grade ones that have survived are primarily from factory sets, while the lower grade examples are the ones that were actually pulled from candy boxes.

Posted By: Eric Brehm
Jeff -- thanks, I didn't realize the Jackson card was from the Nagy collection. It did really catch my eye though as being a nice example. It looks like it has some light caramel stains but these seem to me to give it a feeling of authenticity that you wouldn't get with one from a factory set that had never been circulated in candy boxes.
