Posted By: leonl
I sort of feel a need to respond but not sure what to say and whom to say it to? Let's just say that this card that PSA graded is pathetic. I am not saying that about ALL of PSA but this card definitely is, there is no denying that. There is certainly a gray area about trimmed cards (that are not supposed to be handcut) and the timing of the trim. In my mind if it was trimmed in 1912 or 2012 doesn't matter....it's still trimmed and under the rules of today should only warrant an AUT grade. As for personal attacks and so on I really don't want to take sides except to say I hope there are fewer in the future. At the same time, regardless of age, if you are throwing jabs all of the time then expect to get jabbed back. As for anyone's age I take responsibility for making a mistake of mentioning anyone's on the board. It was done with good motive but back fired. For that I am sorry and fixed the issue as much as I could. Please treat people with respect and they will return the favor.....best regards ..moderator dude

ps...as for letting the other thread about the Cobb go anyone can go back to that thread and see my feelings.....if you still don't understand my thoughts (not sure how that could be) then please email me privately and I will splain further

Posted By: Shannon
Thats just brutal on PSA part. This card is just too obvious of being trimmed to be missed. Bad day or whatever else excuse anyone wants to bring up, its just unacceptable. I agree mistakes happen in every aspect of life, but this is really funny in my eyes. People pay good money for a service and for 100 million dollar company to make such a bad mistake its brutal. They need better quality control.

Posted By: barrysloate
I followed this thread when it began and nobody denies that PSA made a big time error. But when I saw this had now reached 52 posts, I didn't even need to open it up to recognize that everyone must be fighting again. A misgraded card doesn't need 52 different opinions. All I want to say is that while I don't know Zach personally I think it is time for everybody to stop bringing up his age. Age is irrelevant. Bill Mastro and Rob Lifson were once 16 years old and look where they are today. Please treat Zach solely on his knowledge; the rest is age discrimination.

Posted By: Josh K.
Well Barry,

Just to get technical with you - legally, its not age discrimination unless the "victim" is over the age of 40. Anyone younger than 40 cannot be discriminated against based on age. But, I do agree that Zach's age is irrelevant - except to the extent that I wish I had been smart enough to collect prewar cards when I was 16.

Posted By: Charlie Barokas
I am certainly not discriminating against his age but rather as "Leon" put it Jabbing back. He can obviously hold his own and when he fires at me, I will fire back. The way I see it, it would be discrimination not to fire back.

I am sure he is a great person. I just took issue with his actions in another thread and used this opportunity to return the favor.

Posted By: Elliot
Hey Charlie, isn't it time to stop "jabbing back" and to start contributing. So far, you've only posted in two threads, both of which have ended in fights. Don't you think it's fair to take some of the responsibility? You've been lurking for a while, surely you have something positive to add to some threads.

Posted By: Josh K.
but gil, you forget that we have all found ways to spend those extra kernals without our respective blond, brunette or redhead finding out about them. I trust zach can do likewise (of course, looking at today's teens and 20 somethings, she will probably have purple hair).

Posted By: Charlie Barokas
Elliot,

I guess you did not take the time to read all the posts, not saying that I blame you but to some up, my point was very positive in favor of third-party grading.

I believe there will be many mistakes because grading involves an opinion not an exact science. But the hobby/business is better off with third-party grading then without it.

I have posted many more times than twice and most of my postives have been very positive. I love this business and it is also brings alot of joy to me. But like anything there will be people and or issues that will cause me to push back a little.

If you saw the last thread you would see that I simply put a scan of a card up and was assualted for it. It was sort of hard to be positive about that experience.

To assure you that I am a postive person, look no further than my feedback on ebay 4000 positives and zero negatives.

I look forward to many more positve debates.

Charlie

I don't really have a problem with it since it is properly labeled, it's seems to go against everything they have ever stood for. However, I think Block Sportscards needs to be commended for re-submitting the card! Would other dealers do that? Maybe, but I think the majority would just sell it and leave it alone.

That's a big plus in my book for the seller.

Posted By: zach
Way earlier when this card was a number grade I mentioned to them that I believed the card to be trimmed and showed them a regular non trimmed d304 to compare it to. I said that they shuld mention it in their description or resubmit it because they buyer would not be happy with the product. They responded saying I don't know what i'm talking about and d304 like many other issues from that era have bad cuts. I guess some people just can't handle the truth

|
D304 Young
Posted By: jay behrens
I don't know why you wouldn't send it back. If I understand the policy correctly, you get the difference price between the original grade and the new grade. In this case, an AUTH just might pull more money than a 1. Even if it doesn't, you are more than likely to make more money on what you get from PSA and what it sells for as AUTH than if you just sold it as a 1.

Jay

I've just reached Upper Lower Class. I am now officially a babe magnet for poor chicks.

Posted By: cmoking
If that is the case, it would be interesting to know the exact dollar amount that PSA gave the seller/owner of the card.
