My good friend, assistant coach, and fellow card collector is "Big" Bob Lawson - back row far right. He played in the Royals organization in the late 60's and early 70's. Posted By: <b>Dave</b><p>Here's a picture from last summer. This was near the NW end of Vancouver Island, on Malcom Island at a high end fishing resort. Funny thing is that I don't really like fishing. This king salmon weighed in at 20 lbs. I'm actually trying a new preparation, smoking. I've taken half this fish, brined it overnight, and will smoke it (cold) for about 6 hours tomorrow. Hope it's good.<br /><br /><img src="http://www.network54.com/Realm/tmp/1108786774.JPG">

If I add the weekend nights and meals in hotels in Seattle before and after, the float plane from Lake Union to and from the resort, and the resort fees, it works out to about $200 per pound of fish in my freezer. (I had two this size, 20 lbs fresh = 12 lbs frozen).<br /><br />How may card would that have bought?<br /><br />

My friend who took me (nice friend!) has been going there for 15 years. With a 2 salmon limit, he caught a 38 pound spring in the first 1/2 hour of fishing. Too small, he said, and threw it back. After that, and perhaps predictably, he caught no spring salmon the rest of the weekend. Langara is at the northwest tip of the Queen Charlottes, so it can have very rough waters. No baseball cards.<br /><br />Max
