1908 E-102 Honus Wagner

Posted By: RC_McKenzie
I was just commenting on card populations. You had mentioned that you had 7 e105 Lajoies and 4 e102 Wagner throwings. I was attempting to suggest that that doesn't mean that those cards are anywhere around. I was speaking of e102s and e105s as to populations. My point of bringing you and others from this board into the discussion is that whether I listed these cards on ebay or Mastro, they fetched the same price. I ran an unscientific test and the same 7 people bid on them. I agree that a T206 Wagner would sell for more with Mastro, because even people who don't follow sports cards want that card.
A search function would be cool on here as I did miss the last 2 years posts.

Posted By: RC_McKenzie
Jay

Are there any fake e105 and 102s? I can't even sell the real one's I bought for what I paid because I'm not there to snipe 'em. I paid $750 for 3 midgrade e105s in a Festberg auction a few years ago and I will bet that someone who reads this board was the underbidder. BTW they all graded out and I sold them for about $70 per.

Posted By: RC_McKenzie
This is a good point. I agree that there are collections that are dormant. The cards are out there in old trunks and shoeboxes. These don't become known examples until some granddaughter finds them and lists them on ebay. Cheers

Posted By: jay behrens
Sorry, can't help on any info regarding fake e102 or 105s, but I have not heard of any. Pete and other people that actively buy e-cards would know. Sadly, most of my card knowledge is over 10 years old and am still learning what has developed during my hiatus from the hobby.

Jay

I have one that is in good condition...has not been graded...been in the family for about 50 years.

The question was referring to e102 Wagner throwing...but good of you to reprise this train wreck of a thread to the forefront!

Just got the grades in and the Wagner Throwing came back SGC 40. With mine I count a total of ten cards ever graded by PSA & SGC combined.

?

Since I have only been reading this Board for a year or two and noticed this thread was back in 2003, has this Board always had these trainwrecks and are they more or less frequent now than in the past. We have had some doozies in the last couple years but things seem to have quieted down lately.

The old Full Count Board was worse ... it was before Net54.

I'd love to see some scans...sounds like quite a lucky find!

Here's the Wagner back from SGC. I put a couple others under my E102 post.
