Tradition of location is not helping the BB HOF. Look at the distance from Cooperstown to any major airport. Yeah, I get it, that's where the location is, but that requires a bit of planning to go there. If it was closer to a metro center, then there'd be a much greater chance of higher attendance.
The HOF is getting up there in age. We can only hope the facility can stand another century or perhaps begin looking towards planning a new facility (maybe somewhere that isn't Cooperstown). If the HOF trust listened to someone from corporate America, it'd probably move somewhere else. Well, that also assumes people are going to care about baseball in the next hundred years. |

Was just at the HOF a couple of weeks ago and had an enjoyable trip although it is out of the way.
The drive from South Jersey was nice. Got to see what remained of the fall foliage on the way up and the place was practically empty so it was a great time to visit. One of the highlights was definitely the selection of baseball cards on display from the 1870s up to the present. They have a nice group of examples from most all of the major sets on display. |

There's less debate as to whether he belongs. Cyclings relationship with all sorts of doping go back well over a century. And it's an odd one. Get caught, just say aw shucks ya got me take your suspension and it's all ok. Maybe a few results thrown out, but not a pariah. Get caught use some BS excuse. 50/50 got it from a steak a fan gave you ok, have a formerly unknown chimeric twin.... No way, that story id too crazy. Get caught have Nike pay off the UCI, claim for years you didnt, wreck the careers of people who say otherwise, then finally get forced to admit it after you're retired. Lifetime ban and all results overturned. Leaving one TDF with no winner since something like the first 20 finishers were thought very likely on something and the first clean guy refused the win. |

Made it up to Cooperstown last week on a road trip with the wife. Made a nice roundabout from Cooperstown to Niagara Falls and then to Howe Caverns on the way back.
Got there on a Monday afternoon and basically had the whole place to ourselves. It was great. Here's a few pics I grabbed from the "Holy Grail" display in the baseball card section. Going through my pics, I'm annoyed at the pictures I didn't take. Like the 1952 Topps 5 cent unopened pack, and the Cracker Jack, Joe Jackson. |
