I would bet 99.9% of the population would think paying hundred or thousands of dollars for an extremely simple piece of paper with a picture of a young athletic man in a uniform is just as silly. Probably think it is even stranger it is mainly older men buying those mass produced pictures for more than a few coins.;):D

Not to mention that it's men buying and hoarding pictures of other men. I mean what's with that?
Plus these days it's older men collecting pictures of young men.... |
Now we have older billionaire bananas buying young, poor and impressionable bananas in BDSM poses for millions of dollars.
What is this world coming to? |
You realize of course that there are collectors on this very board who seek out certain articles of clothing worn by sweaty young men. They say it's a hobby but it sounds pretty kinky to me.
:( |
So have any of you other fine art fans noticed a run on either bananas or peanut butter at your corner grocery store? Or perhaps duct tape at your local hardware store?
And has anyone detected a sudden surge of avant-garde art offerings on your local Etsy, Kijiji or Craigslist sites? |

Guys, when you make homophobic statements you're supposed to add "not that there's anything wrong with that." :D
This whole thing reminds me of a story about Picasso. He was sitting in a cafe doodling on a napkin. A woman recognized him and asked if she could have the napkin. He said "certainly, for $20,000." She was shocked and said "$20K for that doodle that took you only a few seconds" He said "no madam, that drawing took my whole life to create." Value and desire are illusions anyway. Sit back and enjoy the ride and don't get too deep about the intrinsic value of it all. |
