it's just that the top earners/1%'ers are buying the top tier cards.

I won a couple 19th century cabinets.

The Newsboys (and the OJ Cabinets) were a relative bargain in the auction, tough cards to find and great looking. Seemed like a good deal, not where the market is focusing now. Enjoy them!

Perhaps REA auctions can be added to some index of leading indicators.

Not baseball but vintage, finally added a Vezina C55. These can look rough, thought this was a great looking card with sharp features and a crisp back as well. Just need one more card for the set now.

I managed to grab the Holsom Bread Sisler for my George card run. Also the Stengel Fleishmann. Modern basketball continues to slide while vintage baseball, especially prewar, is in the spotlight, if you can afford it.

Such a great example of that card. Congrats.

Yup, I was an early bidding on this, and quickly dropped out with the rising price tag. A very rare, obscure, and tough to find set for sure. You actually working to complete the set? If so, good luck.

Was surprised with what I thought ended up being a very strong price for this card, especially with it being of such an obscure and relatively unknown player as you noted, along with the fact it is altered in some manner. Still, I think it is a very nice, complete example of a card from a truly tough and rare set. Congrats on a super pickup.

Thanks, Bob, I picked up a few over the years and now I'm 2/3 there if you don't count a master set at 30. I think I may 1 day get to 15 different fronts.

Great cards, all. Good luck on the T222's, DJ.

Thanks Brian. It was tough they had so many great cards I wanted but wants exceeds budget lol. But these were the ones I was fortunate enough to get.

Glad to see a lot of the great cards of all types found it’s way to this forum

Nice D310 Pacific Coast Biscuit of Lewis. One of my favorites in the set, and I thought my example was nice with just some back damage, but yours Phil is at another level of top notchness.

Ha, for sure, same for me. I was watching so many cards, bid on a few, but only won 2:

Tom Barker Joe Jackson PSA 6
https://bid.robertedwardauctions.com...?itemid=126179

Polo Grounds Joe Jackson PSA 9
https://bid.robertedwardauctions.com...?itemid=126185

Both are improvements to current cards in my collection. So I'll be soon selling my PSA 4 Tom Barker and PSA 6 Polo Grounds in BST if anyone is interested. :)

Some say the Rittenhouse is a little to obscure or does not have the eye appeal but I like the card and the look

Thanks everyone!

I thought about that 27. I have a type 1 and it would have been nice to have one if each, but the one Ruth was enough for me this time.

Congratulations on the pickups!

Thanks Brian,
I couldn't keep my eyes off it when I saw the card. Will go good with this companion piece.

I lucked out and came across a small collection of 5 of these quite a few years ago. Not in great shape, and missing pieces/parts, but all the player images were there. Only cards I ever submitted for grading/authentication, and all came back as authentic, so was very happy. Got both Number 7 and Diamond S backs. Never seen a C. S. White backed one yet, though they supposedly exist for all players in the set as well. Good luck going for a complete set, but possibly going after a master set..........you'd really need some luck then. LOL I've only picked up one additional one of these cards over the years since, so not too far behind you with six different fronts myself. They just keep going for way too big prices every time I eventually do see/find one for sale. Very underappreciated set though, that is for certain.

Great cards for everyone else as well.

Maybe in the past, but I know many REA buyers and they are not that category.

Congrats Michael, that was my consignment; this makes 3 cards of mine in REA now owned by board members (the D304 Meyers and the T213-3 Jennings Fact 8). Honesty, I think you git a total steal on the card; I was generally happy with the results of my consignments but felt that one did not do well. Enjoy it, its an awesome combo and I am glad it went to a good guy with good taste.

Thanks Ryan, yes I was expecting it to go way higher than it did. Awesome card, I'll be keeping it for a long time.

Was thinking the same thing, was in on a few but didn't get any, went to bed late night and lost out on one of last items bid on.

But great pick ups everyone, the vintage market does not seem to be slowing down.

Wow, Val, gorgeous card and major league pickup!

IndyDave 12-07-2022 07:28 PM

Congratulations to the winners. I thought I was seriously bidding on a few of the post war regional and oddball sets. I was done by Sunday afternoon. Just couldn't make myself go higher based on some of my recent purchases.

I think there were one or two lots where the final bid without BP was close to what I would've paid - but the BP adds a lot where the bidding was.

On to some other auctions closing soon. :)

This was the first REA auction that I didn't think was insane at the end. The stuff I had bid on was over soon after 11. I don't know if it was because of all the other auctions going on or people were being conservative because of economic uncertainty. I am still very optimistic about the market going up, but this was the first sign of any weakness. Just my view from how crazy REA has been for me the last ~7 years.

puckpaul 12-08-2022 08:26 AM

I think it’s a function of the new lot by lot closing procedures, people are adjusting and sanity is prevailing, you can finish bidding on most lots early.

You couldn't be any more wrong. As a consignor, the prices were OUTSTANDING!!!

You both may be right. My impression is that there was an odd mix of soft and very strong prices.

Johnny630 12-08-2022 03:39 PM

For ones saying prices were down I was blown away by this price!!!

For a Ex-Mt Set with only 4 Cards Graded !!!

With the stars coming down in 6-8 Grades in 65 Topps I have no idea how this went this high.
