1929 Newark, includes Tris Speaker as player-mgr, and Jocko Conlon as a player. Speaker is bottom left, Conlon is top row, second from right. It's not very large, 4x6 maybe.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...4563b6490b.jpg

I have never seen anything like it before or since. I am thinking of having it framed; the back is blank. |
Obviously, this is not a photo, but a team card printed in 1904 of the "Junior" World Champions. The Eastern League (AAA) Buffalo Bisons were considered the "1904 World Champions" when
they defeated the St. Paul Saints of the American Association. Note...the Major League World Series was Not played in 1904. https://photos.imageevent.com/tedzan...sonsTeam50.jpg TED Z T206 Reference . |

James Excuse me for this correction.....but, John McGraw and John Brush (owner of the NY Giants) refused to play Boston (1904 American Lge. Champions). The NY Highlanders lost the final Play-Off game to Boston). I highly recommend the book titled "THE YEAR THEY CALLED OFF THE WORLD SERIES", by Benton Stark. It's an excellent, well-written, story of the entire 1904 season. Including how Jack Chesbro (41-game winner) blew the final Play-Off game in the 9th inning that resulted in Boston winning the A.L. Pennant. TED Z T206 Reference . |
How many of us just clicked on eBay and bought a copy of "THE YEAR THEY CALLED OFF THE WORLD SERIES"?
Add me to the list. |

That's terrific, Jeremy. I won this photo from Heritage not too long ago. These two images look cool together.

Good spot. Most (all?) of the images of this session I have seen are from the spot where the guys are looking - some with the banner above like in mine, some with it on the ground in front. Here is a Barney Stein photo shot from "over there" (this one isn't my photo)/

Here’s an auction scan of a 5x7 glass plate negative I acquired at auction recently — 1914 Brooklyn Tip-Tops of the Federal League.

I love all those team photos! Here's a few of my favorites, including a bunch of cowboys playing baseball (c. 1915 in Colorado?), a WWII U.S. Navy team with several Hall of Famers (1944 or 1945), a kids' team from the late 1940s (from Hartford, Connecticut), and signed photo of the 1960 Rochester Red Wings ...
