Zeenut Covaleski
1 Attachment(s)
I'm very excited to post this Zeenut Covaleski. With this addition, I now have at least one Zeenut card of every major league Hall of Famer in the Zeenut run. I've wanted to complete this run since I picked up my first Zeenut Hall of Famer back in high school (Cochrane). This has been something like a 40 year journey.
(Sorry for the poor quality scan - it's a new scanner that I obviously need to adjust). |

Congrats Paul. That is really awesome. Now what do you do with the next 4o years?
|
Thanks everyone. The next 40 years I will try to locate the cards I need to complete my overall HOF collection -- a Punch or Cabanas Pete Hill, a Mallorquina Willie Foster, and a W600 or Just So Burkett.

Previous pick ups back from the grader. Wasn't sure SGC would grade the Schutz RPPC as its the only one Ive ever seen, glad they did. Graded low from the writing on the back but Hank (Walters grandson) tells a great story about how that was the date of his grandparents first date. Fun stuff.

The past 2-3 weeks has been unreal for me. I've gotten four incredible cards, and I feel so fortunate. Three of them I got virtually all in trade, with this being the lone exception. I picked up this card from RobW here, who also accommodated me in partial trade. So pleased to own a Ruth that looks this nice. This pose has always been my favorite of the Goudeys, as he looks like a tired, old ballplayer nearing the end of his career, which is exactly what he was.

Some recent T3 pickups. I'm inching towards the finish line on my set :)

Jealous but Congrats |
It's been a long time since I've posted a card pickup (mostly photos etc these days), but I did get these two guys recently. 1886 Red Stocking Cigar trade cards of Radbourn and Morrill. Taken out of a Boston-area scrapbook, they have sadly been trimmed down quite a bit. Each measures about 5-1/2" x 2.5". As issued they should be 6-1/2" x 3-3/4", so approximately 75% of each card is still present. But the Radbourn I believe is his rookie card, so 75% is better than none.
Any opinions as to whether or not SGC or PSA will authenticate these with the heavy trim? They are definitely (IMO) real RS Cigar cards. Notice around the edges front and back the small bits of red text still left, which align perfectly with the text on the full 1886 cards. https://i.ibb.co/LPJMXLR/1886-RSCiga...Morrill-s2.jpg https://i.ibb.co/bLzhs9j/1886-RSCiga...ill-rev-s2.jpg |

Years ago I had some equally heavily trimmed tobacco/cigar cards from a couple different obscure and very rare 1880's cigar card issues as well. They had no problem encapsulating and marking them all as "A" for me. And unless something has drastictly changed with them over the past several years, would assume they can do the same for you. No experience or clue regarding how PSA would handle them though. Those look amazing by the way. Good luck. |
Thanks for the input re: SGC, BobC!
